Hey there, @cher555.
Yes, you can still upgrade your file from an older to a newer version of QuickBooks Desktop US. However, please note that upgraded files can't be used in older versions of QuickBooks.
To ensure compatibility and avoid issues when upgrading, please refer to this resource: Company file compatibility with QuickBooks Desktop when upgrading.
I've also got the steps to reset a user password for the QuickBooks 2014 version. Here's how:
- Open QuickBooks and sign in as the admin user.
- Go to Company, then click Set Up Users and Passwords.
- Select Set Up Users and enter the admin password again.
- In the User List, choose the user that needs to change their password. Then, click Edit User.
- Enter a new password.
- Select Next twice and click Finish.
If you want to reset an admin password, use these steps instead:
- Open QuickBooks Desktop. From the login window, select I forgot my password.
- Fill out the info on the form.
- Your license number for QuickBooks Desktop. (Hold down F2 on your keyboard from the login window to see your license number).
- Enter the name, email address, phone number, and ZIP code you used when you purchased the product.
- Click OK. If your info is correct, you’ll get a code to the primary email in your CAMPS. Emails from us can show up in your spam folders. Check your spam and junk folders if you don't see your code in your inbox.
- QuickBooks will then guide you through creating a new admin password.
