Thanks for reaching out to the Community, paul_owen2.

May I know what type of data are you trying to import into QuickBooks Online?

As long as you're trying to bring in customer-related data using an integrated third-party app, it should not cause duplicate entries. You'll find them by going to the Apps menu on the left pane.

For the apps that aren't listed there, we can't guarantee that there are no duplicate entries.

Additionally, let me share the steps on how to import data into QuickBooks Online (QBO).

  1. Go to the Gear icon and choose Import Data.
  2. From the list, select the data you want to import.
  3. Hit the Browse button.
  4. Find and select the file, then follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. Lastly, click Import.

If some of the data are already entered in QBO, the existing list won't be overwritten. To avoid duplicate entries, delete them before importing, or edit each one individually.

I'm including some articles to learn more about importing data.

Please reach out to me if there is anything else I can help you with. I'll always be here to assist. Have a good day.

Thanks for your swift reply.  The Data I wish to import is exported from our CRM System as a CSV and contains worksheets and NEW Invoice Values.  Nb. The Customer may or may not already exist.   To save having to manually recreate Invoices I'd like to just Import them.  Is this possible?

Hey paul_owen2,

You can manually import these invoices, but you will need to map the CSV that is exported from the CRM system onto the CSV import tool file that QuickBooks uses. You can download a sample file by going to the Gear icon > Import Data > Invoices > Download an example and can then copy/paste your data into the required fields to upload.

If your customers are not already created in QuickBooks, you can choose to 'add new contacts that don't already exist in QuickBooks' when importing.
