Question

Spreadsheet Sync

I have SSS installed on several PCs. On some, but not all,  the QBO login is saved so it doesn't have to be entered each time. Does anybody know how to configure this?

Hello, Richard! I understand how convenient it will be to configure the login for accessing Spreadsheet Sync in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Rest assured, I'll discuss whether this process is possible so you can continue analysing and organising your data.

At the moment, users are required to enter their sign-in information every time they wish to access Spreadsheet Sync in QBO. While I understand this may seem inconvenient, security measures are in place to protect your files and ensure that your sensitive data remain safe.

However, you can opt customize your browser settings to save your username and password, which will allow you to autofill your account information during your next visit. The steps to do this vary depending on the browser you’re using, so please check out the links below for specific instructions:

You are incorrect. There is a Remember Me checkbox and the password is entered automatically each time. A screenshot is attached

This is a Windows 11 PC. Maybe this is a Microsoft enhancement

I have memorised credentials within QBO (I use the Desktop version rather than a browser) but my question relates to why these are not always visible within Spreadsheet Sync.

On Excel SSS running on Windows 11 devices only one of my two logins offers a saved password (see the screenshot I sent previously). On other devices no saved password is available.

So my question is - how do I access both saved credentials from within SSS.

Is this an Excel/Microsoft/Configuration Issue?

Thanks

Richard

Thanks for coming back, RAJ111. Let's perform some troubleshooting steps and resolve the inconsistency with the saved credentials not being consistently available within Spreadsheet Sync (SSS) for QuickBooks Online (QBO) on different devices.

It could be influenced by several factors, including Excel settings, Windows Credential Manager, and possibly how each device is configured. Check the Windows Credential Manager and verify that the QBO credentials have been saved. Here's how:

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to User Accounts and then Credential Manager.
  3. Under Windows Credentials, look for entries related to QuickBooks or the applications involved. Then, ensure that the credentials are saved and correct.

Once done, verify the Spreadsheet Sync add-in has the necessary permissions to access stored credentials. Let me guide you on how:

  1. In Excel, go to File and select Options.
  2. Click Trust Center and choose Trust Center Settings.
  3. In the Trusted Add-ins Catalogs, check if settings might restrict the add-in's functionality.
  4. Make sure the Excel version and any related updates are consistent across all devices. Discrepancy in versions may affect the behavior of the add-ins.

Credentials saved on one device are not automatically available on another device unless they share the same profile or configuration. Let's guarantee all devices are configured similarly in terms of login and security settings. Also, re-authenticating and explicitly saving your credentials again on each device helps to ensure consistency. We can log in to QBO via SSS on each device, and if prompted, choose the option to remember or save the credentials.

By ensuring that Credential Manager entries are properly set up, Excel and browser settings are correctly configured, and the environment across all devices is consistent, we can achieve uniform behavior where QBO logins are saved within SSS.
