Can't Import Stripe Transactions manually

I'm using QB Self Employed and I understand that it can't interface directly with my Stripe business account. So I'm trying to import the transactions manually, from the Stripe Reports panel - Balance Change from Activity. It's a csv file that I get but QB won't show the data or upload it. I just get the attached error. Can anyone help me?

Thanks. I"ve got it now. For anyone who has the same issue... Save as Windows CSV and remove the timestamp from the Date and Time column that Stripe automatically outputs. Thank you again

Hi Dev227, thanks for joining the Community - I'm unable to view the specific error on the screenshot below, are you able to select the file on the download folder? For tips on formatting the file for successful import, please click here :)

Thanks for the link, I'll check that out. Here's the image again. It opens for me when downloaded, not sure why it doesn't otherwise

Thanks Dev227, I'm still only able to view the import screen on the screenshot without any specific error showing - is the file saved in CSV format on your computer?

Yes, that's all I get, the redded out box. Then a little later it says it must be our fault. But I will check through the link you sent earlier and hopefully that resolves things. Thanks

Can't Import Stripe Transactions manually

I'm on a Macbook and I don't actually have Excel. I've been trying to upload the Stripe csv as is, and after editing the columns down with OpenOffice, but QB won't accept either. Do you have any other suggestions please?

Just to report that I'm still struggling with this issue of getting QB Self-Employed to import the Stripe transaction data downloads. Could it be that QB doesn't like the way Stripe adds time in the box for date? I attach a sample of the csv file I'm trying to upload

Thanks for your prompt reply and for adding more details about the format, Dev227.

When you import the transactions, QuickBooks Self-Employed will only accept the Date, Description, and Amount column formats. If there's a time included in the Date column, you'll want to edit the CSV file and remove them.

Here's a sample screenshot of what my test CSV file and import page looks like:

After saving the file, go back to your QuickBooks Self-Employed account and import the transactions again.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings > Imports.
  2. Select Import older transactions for the account you want to add transactions to.
  3. Click Browse and find the file.
  4. Select the file and click Open to start the import.
  5. Review the column headers and data. Make sure the Date, Description, and Amount columns on the CSV match the columns and order in QuickBooks. The other column headers can be in any order.
  6. Hit Continue to complete the import.

For reference, please check out this article: Add older transactions to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Once completed, you can review and categorise the imported transactions by going to the Transactions page.

To learn more about your Self-Employed account, feel free to read this guide: QuickBooks Self-Employed Overview.

Please leave a reply to this thread again if you need further assistance with your imported transactions, or other features in your Self-Employed account. Have a good day ahead!

Thank you. I have tried all of that but it still won't import. What happens is that the Browse box gets redded out and when I mouse hover nearby a dialogue comes up, see attached screenshot. I attach a screenshot of the csv file I'm trying to import too.

Thanks Dev227 - as you're importing on a Mac, please open and re-save the file to check for the option to save this specifically as a Windows CSV. (rather than the default Mac UFT) as this is the only supported type. If you're still unable to import following this, try setting the amount field to display as 2 d.p. so that all values are the same :)
