Hi everyone,
My problem is that when I go into my list of VAT returns the current quarter (Oct - Dec 2020) is not showing!
The last Return is the Jan - Mar 2020 Quarter.
How can I get this rectified?
Thanks Alymer
It's my pleasure to assist you today, Alymer.
All submitted VAT returns can be found on the VAT page of your QuickBooks Online (QBO). Since you're experiencing it otherwise, we can perform some browser troubleshooting to fix this.
To start with, let's log into your QBO account using an incognito or private browser. Since this doesn't store data in the cache, it the best place to isolate browser issues.
Kindly use either of the following shortcut keys:
Then, try running the report again by following the steps below:
If it works, you may want to clear the browsing history of your regular web browser. This will remove previously-stored browsing data that might have caused the issue. Otherwise, you can try using other supported browsers to be thorough.
I'll leave you with this article for more information about managing VAT in QBO: Set up and edit VAT settings, VAT codes, and VAT rates.
Get back to me if you have other questions. I'm always happy to help you further. Keep safe and have a great rest of the day!
Hi there,
Hello Alymer,
Welcome to the Community page,
If you have the Jan-Mar quarter tax period as your open period, you will need to file up to the current one that you need it to be.
Taxes>vat>prepare return>next to submit to HMRC click the drop-down arrow- mark as filed
You do them steps up until the period you need to see.
Hi there,
Thank you for your reply
I can't carry out your advice as I am now getting a message that says "We can't connect to HMRC right"
I am connected to HMRC in account setting and I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting it.
I have a symbol at the top left telling me I am MTD enabled.
I should also mention that this will be my first MTD via QuickBooks as all previous quarters were done online via HMRC's own website.
Many thanks
Alymer
Thanks for getting back to us Alymer!
Do you see a button to 'Take Action' in the top-right of the taxes screen? This usually provides a reason for the "We can't connect to HMRC right" message that you're seeing and steps that you can take to fix this.
Please also check that you have the correct VAT registration number entered by going to Taxes > Edit VAT > Edit settings - this should appear in number format only without spaces. :)
Hi, I have the same problem.
I have tried to reactivate my HMRC Vat connection via quickbooks Take action button but get an error code, not sure if this is quickbooks or HMRC!!
My next quarterly return ends 28/2/21 so I am hoping that this gets sorted soon
I am assuming this is a problem due to the reverse charge changes that you must be making to the system.
My VAT number has not changed and it was working fine in December 2020 when I submitted my last return.
Hello Rebus46,
Welcome to the Community page,
What is the exact error you are getting in the take action part?
Could you send us a screenshot of what you are seeing so we can take a look into this for you.
Hi Rebecca, thanks for the screenshot, can you ring the helpline on 0808 234 5337, the agent will be able to set up a screen share with you and it might need to be escalated to our engineers but the agent on the phone will be able to raise it up for you.
The error occurs after I have entered all my details to get into HMRC gateway and have clicked on the Grant Authority button.
Hmmm, as I was going through the stages , I have just tried again and it seemed to work.
Still lost January and February 21 VAT details on the VAT page.
Once I had managed to reactivate the HMRC MTD enabled but the green button was still showing, in case anyone else has lost 2021 VAT data on the Taxes report page, one of the things I was told to try was to refresh the page and hey presto it worked.
Reverse charge will not be activated till 1st March.
Thank you to the advisor who helped with my problem.
