Last year I had to upgrade to the 2019 QuickBooks version, after paying for the one time upgrade fee , I was a bit surprised when recently I started receiving emails about paying for the renewal , when I called last years upgrade to the latest version of QB I explained to the sales person , that I only use QB to create estimates and to generate invoices , very simple process for me, never had call for technical support , not sure why they sold me this version of QB that requires a yearly renewal fee? I was never made aware of this before, I had no choice upgraded to the latest version of QB last year ... now in about a month I have to pay again a one time fee of almost $300.00 to continue to use QB , not sure if their sales associates get a bigger commission when they place this yearly subscription plans ? Or I was just misinformed? After my phone call today besides canceling the membership auto renewal
appears that I had no other choice than pay for the one time fee to continue using QB , hopefully someone with the solidarity issue can guide in the right direction

You have to pay annual subscription for QB Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus and Enterprise. You may purchase a one-time license of QB Desktop Pro and Premier. For example, you can purchase QB Pro 1 user for $300 directly or $200 thru a partner.
I've just received an email stating my Quickbooks Pro desktop will be renewing annually-in a month. I did not know this when I purchased the product earlier this year. How do I change my subscription to a one-time fee?
Greetings, @Rebecca CFC.
Thanks for joining in on this thread about the QuickBooks Pro annual subscription. I'd be glad to offer some insight into how you can change your subscription to a one-time fee.
The most efficient way to edit your account fees/billing is by contacting our Customer Support Team. They'll need to receive some personal information to help you through some additional steps that can't be asked within the Community for security reasons. Don't worry. It's an easy process to get in touch with them.
Here's how:
Here's a guide that can provide some more details about managing your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) subscriptions and services.

BS. I tried exactly that the QB representative told me pay the annual fee or no access to my QB. Nice huh?
Are you using QBD 2021 Pro/Premier Plus? You can still purchase a one time license of QBD 2021 and cancel your Plus license.
Yes I am, have been a QB customer for years. Bought this version to replace 2018 last Fall. Now I am being charged $350 to renew? Totally blocked out until I pay the ransom. :(
I can share some information about renewing your QuickBooks Desktop, @jimfinelli.
If you have QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2019, 2020, and 2021, you are still fully supported. No need to renew or upgrade to the latest version to access the account.
However, if you’re using the QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, this one is an annual subscription. To check the yearly renewal for this service, check out this link: QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2022.
I'm adding these articles to know more about QBDT service discontinuation and your upgrade options, you can refer to this article:
I also suggest logging in to the Customer Account Management Portal (CAMPs) to check your subscription. Check out the following article on how to check charges billed in your account: Find your QuickBooks Desktop billing history.
If you have any other concerns about the renewal of your subscription and or anything else, let me know in the comments below. I'm just around to help. Take care and stay safe always.
Install the trial license for QBD 2021 to open your file. Then you can purchase it later.
