Chase Bank Feed issues STILL not fixed

I know this hasn't been easy for you, jgold.

 

You may have encountered this error when attempting to reconnect to Chase Bank (All) - New due to the following reasons:

 

  • Your bank changed its service offering from Direct Connect to Express Web connect.
  • The connectivity of your financial institution has been disabled.
  • You have pending alerts on your online bank account that you need to acknowledge.
  • Your bank’s info isn’t updated on the Financial Institutions Directory (FiDir) in QuickBooks.
  • There might be a problem with their servers.

 

I'll share some troubleshooting procedures to fix this error. Before we start, please ensure to do the following:

 

 

Let's now run the Verify and Rebuild data to make sure there is no data damage in your company file.

 

To Verify:

 

  1. Go to the File menu and select Utilities.
  2. Select Verify Data, then select OK to close all windows.
  3. Once you’ve verified your data, you can rebuild your company file to fix any errors or data damage that's found.

 

To Rebuild:

 

  1. Go back to the File menu and select Utilities.
  2. Select Rebuild Data, then select OK to close all windows.

 

To check if there's some problem with your bank's servers, let's try downloading transactions in the test company file.

 

here's how:

 

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to the File menu, then select New Company.
  3. Click Express Start or Start Setup.
  4. Set up Bank Feeds for the affected account.
  5. Try to download your transactions.

Let me tell you how to REALLY fix it.  The support for this product is essentially non-existent so after 6 weeks of dealing with this I stumbled across my own solution.  Here you go...

 

1.  Uninstall QB and remove all QB related files in your document, program files, program data and app data.  You will need to find all folders on your computer that have the name Intuit since they are spread out in different locations.  Do not delete Turbotax or other related files.  QB also creates a database file or application that needs to be removed.

 

2.  Restart your computer

3.  Reinstall QB

4.  Update QB

5.  Setup bank feeds using the process they normally send to everyone with this issue.

 

Good luck.  I am bailing out of Intuit totally as this was the last straw.

Actually, doing all of those things and then switching to Xero, Freshbooks or some other program is probably the only sure-fire fix for anything involving Intuit. 

I did manage to fix the issue. It dawned on me that a few months ago I modified my Windows host file to prevent QB from communicating with certain servers that Intuit uses to try to sell us other services, which was causing a lot of users, including me, to repeatedly crash on start-up. Once I unblocked the correct server, I was able to re-connect with Chase.

I just spoke to a QB customer service rep on the phone who admitted to me that the problem with reestablishing the Chase bank feeds "is not you, it's Quickbooks".  This is the fifth call I've made in about this non-ability to restablish bank feeds and the first time that I've felt like anyone was even remotely telling me the truth.

Joining the chorus of people PPO'd at QB/Inuit over this Chase issue, which popped up for me suddenly last week - unable to download Chase transactions using the Bank Feed and unable to reset it, first being told it DID work:

Called Chase - who sent me to QB - and HOURS of talking with support people - including so-called supervisors - most of whom were clueless and kept repeating that Chase changed the connections (yes, back in Sept which I "updated" then and it all worked - sort of -  for 2 months) - until finally claiming with Chase I could only use the "Web Connect" downloads (one for each Chase account) which of course is NOT TRUE.

 

I have QB Desktop 2022 R6_27 - the latest update - one company, one user (Admin - Owner).  No "fix" mentioned here works for me and my PC is not blocking Intuit/QB/Chase, etc. in any fashion. 

 

Even when the post-Sept 27 "Express Web Connect" connected and downloaded - it would take several repeat downloads to get (almost) all transactions - as others have mentioned - sometimes duplicates and some transactions NEVER downloaded. 

 

Pathetic.

I can see the urgency of getting this resolved, @BillWCH. I want to shed some light on the issue you encounter with the Chase bank issue in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

 

I have checked our records and confirm an ongoing issue about this. And at this time, our product engineers are investigating the root cause and implementing a fix. While they do, I suggest contacting our Support Team to include you in the list of affected users. From there, you'll get a notification once this issue gets resolved.

 

To reach them, here's how:

 

  1. On your QuickBooks account, go to the Help menu at the top.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help
  3. Choose Contact Us
  4. Enter the issue or topic in the field box. 
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions.

What "topic" will add me to the list of people to be notified when there's a fix?  I do not wish to spend any more time talking to support people until there's a definite fix to this issue.

Make sure you activate the credit cards through chase. There is a way if you call them, it took me about a day after I did that for bank feeds for intuit. Then it populated Qb all new. If it didn't do that automatically QBs/Intuit didn't know how to resolve the issue or help.

Those steps won’t work- did that already with no resolution multiple times. Trying to help the other users not waste their time.

 

 The issue was that the chase all news doesn’t populate in the bank feed section, but chase does show up just not the correct/important one to make it help.

 

Qb support needs to be informed on how to address the issue quickly- We are business owners that have important task to perform. Qb gets paid plenty and should have their software working like a well oiled machine.

I want to make sure you're taken care of, @BillWCH.

 

You can write "Missing transactions from Chase" as the topic upon reaching out to our QuickBooks support team. Once you're able to talk or chat with our live agents, provide this investigation number to add your company file to the list of affected users: INV-79805. This way, you'll get an update about the resolution status of the investigation.

 

Once the issue is fixed, you can categorize your bank transactions to put them in the correct accounts. Then, reconcile your bank account when you're ready.

All of my  friends who use chase bank are still having significant difficulties. I have several chase accounts. each account is making me sign in individally to bring in the transactions in addition things are coming in duplicates causing accounting difficulties . I dont understand why they messed with something that was working perfectly. This is a nightmare!!

As per checking our tools, I have found out that the investigation about Chase bank is already closed and resolved. But since you still encounter the problem, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They have the tools to check the root cause of this issue and might raise a new investigation.

That may be, but when I called the Support Team in the first place, they told me: #1 I had to have a paid support account to get help and secondly, I would have to upgrade; my QB2021 Desktop couldn't be considered. And she did not have a clue about what a bank feed was.  My confidence in that team is severely tarnished.

This is RIDICULOUS.  I have been asking about a fix for the Chase banking problems with QuickBook for more than a month and was last told it was being investigated and I should contact support and give them the number INV-79805 so I'd be "registered" to be informed when there was a fix. Now I see others are being told the issue has already been investigated and fixed???!!!  Well, it's either one or the other and the SAME person who told me to contact support for the investigation has now told someone else it WAS investigated & fixed.

 

DOES NO ONE AT QUICKBOOKS "SUPPORT" HAVE ANY CLUE AS TO WHAT THE ANSWER IS?  THE PEOPLE ON THE PHONE ARE USELESS.

Thank you for requesting updates on missing transactions when trying to download from CHASE Bank (All) - New, LizCPA.

 

After checking here, our engineers have been unable to reproduce the reported behavior. As a result, they've closed the current investigation (INV-79805). If new information surfaces, they may re-open this investigation. 

 

There's also another open case (INV-78627) for CHASE Bank (All) - New that it has lost the drop-down option in the Bank Feeds center to "Sync all for this bank". This change is by design. When the bank updated to the newer connection method, it no longer supports the sync all option. 

 

Feedback has been submitted but for now, you'll have to manually sync each account one at a time. I suggest you enter this feedback from the Help menu. Maybe it's something that can be changed at a later time.

Thank you for the prompt reply, but please don't thank me for understanding. I am not understanding, and QuickBooks ProAdvisor Support has a record of the incident as well. The rep said it had been escalated. It's likely that support teams won't be able to exactly reproduce the problem because you have to be a real user with real data, including a live bank account with transactions, to demonstrate the problem. 

 

Please ask those trying to recreate to reach out directly to those who are affected. Most are happy to show you what is happening and how. This is not a "just manually sync it" and move on problem. I have supported and recommended QuickBooks for over 20 years, and I now have to tell clients that an upgrade broke a feature they use daily. 

 

As I said, PA Support has record of this as well as screen clips showing the errors. Please let me know that the two departments are collaborating on this issue and not just closing it because it can't be reproduced. I am happy to spend another several (nonbillable) hours showing this to the Product Managers and anyone else who needs to see the error in action. This dismissal and "maybe come back to it later" messaging is unacceptable. You may reach me directly at liz at lizalexandercpa dot com

Once again NO HELP from QuickBooks alleged support. The issue that's being raised - and has yet to be fixed - is that the BANK FEED DOESN'T WORK AT ALL.  This is after it DID WORK when we started to use it in September although some transactions THEN were missing or duplicated.  THEN THE BANK FEED NO LONGER CONNECTED AND THERE IS AN ERROR MESSAGE - SEE ME PREVIOUS - WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RECONNECT THE BANK FEED TO CHASE.  

 

I don't care what investigation cases are open or closed THE MAIN PROBLEM HAS NOT YET BEEN FIXED.

 

QuickBook "support" continues to be pathetic.

The fact that the accounts dont sync is such a downgrade it makes zero sense I have 4 checking accounts and one credit card with chase. Why is something that used to take 5 mminutes now taking several times as long. This new change is frustrating as heck in addition it is constantly making us resign in and accept all over again. why on earth would you update something that was working just fine?????

So FYI I just "upgraded" to QB Pro Plus 2023 (from 2022) and tried to establish the Chase bank feed again. SAME EXACT PROBLEM, SAME EXACT ERROR MESSAGES.
