Hi @lindak1119,

Welcome to the Community. I'm here to lend a hand with importing a .qbw file.

In order to import the file into QuickBooks Online, you will first need to open it in QuickBooks Desktop and import the file from there. If you don't have a version of QuickBooks Desktop installed on your computer or it's an older version, there's no need to worry, as there are trial versions that can be utilized. I'm including some articles that will assist you with this process:

I'm confident that these resources will help you with getting the file imported.

Lastly, since you're importing into QuickBooks Online, I suggest the following link which contains tutorials for the software: QuickBooks Tutorials. This can help to ensure that you get the most out of the software for your business.

Don't hesitate to let me know if you have questions or need anything. Wishing you a wonderful to start to the year.

So your saying I cannot take a qbw and just upload it?? I have to download an entirely different program (which I have to use a prepay free trial time)  to then upload a file to the online version? Seems like a massively lazy design issue. There should be a upload option on the online version not the other way around.

I have a question about the importing of the files as well. I was successful at the QB trial and then moving it to QBO for 3 of my companies. I waited too long for the last one and my trial is over and now I can not get another trial. I even tried another email etc. What are my options now? This is incredibly frustrating and not only because of the steps but that I can not talk to an actual person in support to help me. All of the articles do not address my issue. HELP!

I got you cover, @sarah1313.

Since you're unable to access any of our trial accounts, I recommend contacting our Technical Support. They can guide and assist you further in migrating one of your files to QBO.

Another option is to look for a third-party application that handles QBDT to QBO data migration. You can also visit our website, click this link.

Here's how to reach out:

  1. Open your QBO account.
  2. Go to Help at the top.
  3. Scroll down and keep typing I still need a human until you reach the option to connect to one of our live support agents.
  4. Click Get help from a human.
  5. Choose either Chat with us or Have us call you.

I'm also attaching this guide to help you in your first hour with QBO.

Keep me posted if you still have questions or concerns with your account. I'm more than willing to assist you every steps of the way. Take care and have a wonderful day ahead.
