Gives error that it does not recognize financial institution. Worked with support of Quick book and Fifth third without any success
Hi there, @mgandhi.
Thank you for providing details and letting us know what's happening. I can share some information why you're unable to import web connect (.qbo) files.
Currently, being unable to verify the financial institution when importing to the desktop version is a known issue (INV-24116). Our engineers are working for an immediate fix.

RE: INV-24116
Got a link? An internet search does not turn anything up on this.
Fifth Third Direct is not compatible with Quick books , in order to download transactions you need to have log in for Fifththird.com online banking, there you can download all the transactions as QFX file and then convert the QFX file to QBO and then import the QBO file to your Quick books,
Hi there, @smart114.
The investigation 24116 has already closed and resolved. You should be able to download transactions from your bank using Direct Connect. Currently, you can access the Fifth third bank or credit card account, and payments through Direct Connect.
To check other banks that support online banking in QuickBooks, you can go to the Banking menu, click Bank Feeds, then select Participating Financial Institutions.
Here's how:
If you get the same result, I agree with Established Member @smart114 workaround.
Once you finish downloading the bank feeds, you can refer to the following article to manage them: Add and match Bank Feed transactions.
Drop me a comment below if you have additional questions about downloading transactions in QuickBooks. I'll be happy to help you out. Have a wonderful day ahead.
Hi @sfvaughan. I'm here to lend a hand.
I like to verify when you're trying to import the .QBO file into your QuickBooks Desktop account (QBDT), have you receive an error message?
There are some reasons why you're encountering web connect issues, and it could be due to the following:
To help fix web connect issues, ensure that you're using a supported version of QuickBooks Desktop and create a back up the QuickBooks company file before any import.
Once everything is ready, try to import the .qbo file again. If you're still getting an issue, refer to this article and move on to Step 3: Fix Web Connect import errors.
In case you want to connect your bank account in QBDT to download your bank transactions automatically, take a look at this article: Get started with Bank Feeds for QuickBooks Desktop.
However, if you mean something else, please let me know and provide additional details. I'll be looking forward to your reply. Take care.
