Correcting Payroll & Owner Draw

A previous bookkeeper and payroll manager listed the owner's draws on payroll. A W-2 is being generated for the owner now automatically through QB payroll. I have manually filed 941X with the IRS.

 

How do I change the recorded payrolls from wages to owner draws to have a correct W-3 & 940 to file?

 

Using QB Desktop 2019 and have the full service QB payroll.

Correcting Payroll & Owner Draw

After talking to QB support, here is the easy short answer for my situation in case anyone else needs it:

Payroll Center

Select Employee tab

Choose employee

Choose Transactions tab underneath Employee Information

Select the transaction you want. Once the new window pops up, click on the drop down under the delete button and choose void.

After the transaction is voided under the employee, create the new transaction with the correct information listed for owner draw.

Payroll adjustments and corrections for Assisted and Full Service plans will be done by our Payroll Support Team. This is because tax forms are automatically filed by Intuit and we have to record and account all adjustments made to your payroll record. 

 

Please give them a call so they can verify your account and help you create the corrections. Here's how to reach out to them:

 

  1. Go the Help menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Let them know that you need make to make adjustments in your payroll records. 
  4. Click Continue, then select if you want to schedule a callback.
