Since we upgraded our Quickbooks enterprise Solutions - contractor addition (desktop) to 2022 version -when I send out my weekly paystubs via email we have certain employee's that do not receive the paystub PDF. They only receive the "winmail.dat". We have never had one issue sending out paystubs via email until now. We never had this "inmail.dat" attachment? Even our IT dept. has been working on this for over a week & cannot fix the issue. Any suggestions??? I have Outlook & always have had it via email.

I'm not sure if this is any help. Do you have any employees that have "{}" in their name?
Hi,
This doesn't seem to be resolved yet.
Are there any plans to do so in a near future?
Thank you
Thanks for checking this with us, qwerty6.
The troubleshooting options shared above can help fix issues with emailing paychecks. You can also have the following articles on how to resolve errors when submitting direct deposit payroll, you can check out these links for future use:
If these steps still didn't work, I suggest contacting our Payroll Team. This requires a thorough investigation and develop a permanent fix so you're able to send paycheck stubs successfully.
You can refer to the steps shared by Rasa-LilaM on how to reach our Payroll Team. Please take note our operating hours for chat support depends on the version of QuickBooks that you're using. Please see this article for more details: Support hours and types.
Keep me posted for additional questions or other concerns processing paychecks. I'd be more than happy to help. Wishing you the best of luck.
Hi,
Thank you for your answer.
Unfortunately, no proposed solution in this thread resolved the problem.
We tried contacting phone support but all we ended up doing was waiting for the next representative. Everyone we were transferred to was unable to help us.
We would really appreciate some help with this matter.
Everything was fine before the 2022 update.
Thank you
My original email was set up to send through my link Outlook email. My IT guy changed it to where it would send the paystubs through my email online and not my Outlook on my desktop (I hope that makes sense). After that I found that I had another issue with employees whose names were set up using {}, (eg. John Doe {emp}). I corrected these names and I haven't had any issues since.
Hi,
Thank you very much for your reply.
For secury reasons, we're not interested in using an online mail service.
As for the special characters, we don't use them to setup the employee accounts.
Thank you
I've noticed that it's only our employees with Iphones having this issue. The upgrade was not cheap, it's a shame they haven't resolved this is the amount of time it's been an issue.
After an employees paystub has been emailed, QB enters a message 'Sent via email on to and then the employees email address'. The space in between on and to should be the date of the email. Mine shows a blank set of spaces. How do I get the date of the emailed paystub to be included in the message?
I agree - only had problems with the 2022 version of quickbooks desktop pro plus.
I chatted with 2 support people who took me through a couple things, but nothing worked.
They didn't mention the code to be put on a list to be notified when there is an update fix as mentioned in the first solution by quickbooks on this thread. They suggested I use a different email.
I will see if my IT guy can route it through my microsoft365 email online rather than the same email used in outlook.
Here's to hoping for a quick fix from quickbooks!!!
Any employee that has {} after their name does not go through on email. They all did before the upgrade. Any suggestion as to how to fix this? Only half of my employees are getting their paystubs.
Thank you for your help.
Removing the {} from the employee name was the answer for me!!! Thank you!!!
The {} on their name is because they have more than one file. They are set up in two different states. The only way I can differentiate is with the {}. Any other suggestions?
Thank you,
clake
Hello, @clake. I noticed you reposted your query in the Community.
I'll route you to my colleague since your concern has already been addressed on a separated post. For more information, click on the following link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/employees-and-payroll/re-multi-state-withholding/0....
Please contact us again if you have any further questions. I'm always delighted to see you.
Has this been resolved yet? I've followed other leads about making sure I'm up to date on my Quickbooks version and Adobe. I am in both cases and I'm still having the above mentioned problem. Emailing paystubs has always worked perfectly. Then back in Feb my hotmail account was not longer working for sending paystubs so I switched it to Outlook. That worked until June when a few employees are saying the pdf is not attached. They are receiving the same file mentioned by the originator of this string.
thanks for your time...
Thanks for checking this out, Lynn44.
If you've done all the steps recommended by the previous representatives on this thread, we can try updating your software this time. This will make sure it's on it's latest release version to fix and prevent this behavior your experiencing when emailing paystubs.
Here's how:

Hi, just wanting to check if you were able to route via the microsoft365 webmail? My IT guy says it's not possible because we're using Exchange, but maybe he's not a good IT guy haha.
Thanks!
Elsie
Thank you for joining the conversation, Elsie.
Your IT guy is right. Microsoft 365 Exchange is a web-based version. QuickBooks Desktop only supports the locally installed version of Office 365. You can check out the system requirements for the full list of email providers. Just go to the Software Compatibility section.
If you have more concerns about Webmail setup, feel free to go back to this thread. Take care!
I updated it to the current version and sent out another paystub as a test and it still didn't work. Of 15 employees, 4 employees do not receive the paystub in PDF format. Any other ideas?
I'm determined to ensure you'll be able to email paystubs by sharing some troubleshooting to resolve it, Lynn44.
You may want to send a test email to yourself to check if there's an issue with your email service. Also, we can ask your employees to check their spam folders and filters that might block the emails.
Also, in QuickBooks Desktop, we can send each pay stub as a password protected PDF to your employee’s email address. If the employee’s last name is shorter than four characters, the program will use the whole last name plus the last four digits of the SSN. In addition, these three characters are always lower case.
Here's an article you can read to learn more about sending paystubs: Email pay stubs from QuickBooks Desktop.

Qwerty6 is it working for you yet? I'm still having the same problem.
TirzahC...my issue with paystubs appears to be misunderstood. I'm having the same problem as the originator of this thread. Please go all the way up to the top to see the issue. At that time Quickbooks said they were aware of the problem and working on it (see above thread).
Thank you for your time. Hopefully I, and anyone following this issue, will get pointed to the solution as to why some people are receiving winmail.dat files instead of the pdf.
Good afternoon, @lynn4.
I appreciate you coming back on this thread about emailing pay stubs. Let me point you in the right direction to get this taken care of once and for all.
