Thank you for posting here in the Community, @randy-oden.

Can you share with me the version of your QuickBooks? Any additional information you can add will help ensure a timely solution.

Please note the update process is only possible if you're using a supported version of the program. While waiting for the details, I suggest performing some basic troubleshooting. Please start by updating your QuickBooks through the web.

It ensures the program will run in its full capacity, and there are no missing components. Here's how:

  1. Go to: https://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/Support/ProductUpdates.aspx.
  2. Enter the necessary information.
  3. Select Search
  4. Select Get updates.
  5. Save the downloaded file on your Windows desktop.
  6. Open the file.
  7. Follow the onscreen instruction to install the file.
  8. Once done, restart your computer.

Once done, download and run the QuickBooks Tool Hub file to ensure no background processes are running. Also, it repairs any damage data that might cause the problem.

After following the steps above, proceed with opening the program and see if you're able to export to QBO.

For future reference, visit the Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release article. It provides the alternative steps on updating the version.

Stay in touch whenever you have additional questions about QBO. I’m here to make sure you’re taken care of. Have a great rest of the day.

I have QB professional 2012 and am trying to follow steps to move on line and on updating first I have multiple error codes15225 and 15243 and have no idea how to get past them.  I am not an It person, and all I am trying to do is to be able to access my quick books from my home computer and my office computer at different times.

Seems like that should be easy.  QB support sent me to on line QB and if that is the simplest and least expensive, fine, but this is already taking too long to do. So I will need some help to get this done or better directions.  Ted Dunne

I'm here to ensure this error gets resolved, EMD47.

I appreciate you for raising your concern here on the Community page. I can share with you the solutions on how to fix the Error 15225 and 15243.

QuickBooks Error 15225 occurs when downloading or installing the latest software updates. Error Code 15225 usually occurs because of the incorrect internet explorer configuration.

It generally arises when QuickBooks tries to verify the digital signature of all files downloaded by the program.

Causes for QuickBooks Error Code 15225:

  • To register a digital signature, the Internet explorer function no longer works
  • Internet Explorer is not up to date
  • Firewall or Antivirus software blocking to install the new update files

One thing to do before starting up with the troubleshooting steps create a backup of a company file. Make sure to back up the company file because if there would be any fall back in between the process so you can reach back to the same position where you started.

5 Simple Steps to Fix QuickBooks Error 15225.

Step 1: Update QuickBooks Desktop

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to Help > Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Click on Update Now.
  4. Tap Get Updates.
  5. It may take some time to update the QuickBooks Desktop.
  6. Press Close.

Step 2: Add Intuit URL as a Trusted Website

  1. Open Internet explorer.
  2. Click on the top-right gear icon and choose Internet Options.
  3. Select the Security tab.
  4. Tap on the Trusted Sites icon and Sites button.
  5. Type https://www.intuit.com/ (If using the US version) to Add this website to the zone.
  6. Hit Add.
  7. Ensure to make a check on Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone
  8. Press Close. Then Apply and OK.

STEP 3: Install a digital signature certificate

  1. Close QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Files(x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks and search for QBW32.exe.
  3. One you found QBW32.exe make a right-click on it and select Properties.
  4. Click on the Digital Signature tab and ensure that Intuit Inc. is selected in the list.
  5. Press Details.
  6. In the Digital Signature details windows, click View Certificate.
  7. In the Certificate window, click Install Certificate.
  8. Press Next until the finish is displayed.
  9. Then click Finish.
  10. Restart the computer and then open QuickBooks again.
  11. Now Download the Update once again.

Step 4: Turn Off Firewall and Network Protection Temporary

This issue may arise because the firewall or some security software is blocking to download the latest updates. It’s good to turn them off for a temporary period of time.

  1. Make a right-click on the Start button
  2. Choose Settings
  3. Click on Update & Security
  4. On the left pane, choose the Windows Security tab and click Open Windows Security
  5. Under the Windows Security window, choose Firewall and Network Protection
  6. Press on Domain, Private, and Public Network one by one and turn off the Microsoft Defender Firewall with all type of network

Now try to install the latest updates of QuickBooks.

If the above steps won’t work, you may also need to Uninstall and Reinstall QuickBooks Desktop in order to fix this problem permanently. It also could be your computer Windows issues.

On the other hand, for QuickBooks Error 15243 happens when Intuit File Copy Service (FCS) service is disabled. And, is affected by the following:

  • A corrupt download/ incomplete QuickBooks installation.
  • Corruption in the Windows registry because of the recent QuickBooks software change, probably an installation or Uninstalling it.
  • Intuit FCS Service is not running.
  • Anti-Virus is blocking access to download the latest file.

To get started, make sure to create a backup copy of your company file to save your data.

Once done, let's proceed with enabling the QuickBooks Desktop FCS. Here's how:

  1. Tap on Windows+R keys together from your keyboard to open Run window.
  2. Type COMPMGMT.MSC into the Run command and hit on OK.
  3. Now Computer Management Window will open then press on Services and Applications.
  4. Then tick on Services.
  5. Now scroll the cursor down, until you found Intuit QuickBooks FCS and make a double click on it.
  6. Click on Startup type and choose Manual.
  7. Then click Apply.
  8. Press on OK.

After that, I recommend revalidating the payroll's service key to refresh the connection.

  1. Go to Employees at the top menu bar.
  2. Choose My Payroll Service.
  3. Then select Activate Service Key
  4. Under the Service Keys window highlight the current payroll and select Edit.
  5. Click on Next until finish comes up.

Moreover, you can also repair your QuickBooks Desktop or perform the clean install/uninstall process to fix any QuickBooks component issues on your system. For the details, I recommend checking out these articles:

However, If the issue persists, I'd suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They're equipped with tools to determine the main cause of this.
