Hello There. In regards to the -6144,-301 error while restoring a backup, is this while using Intuit Data Protect (IDP)? If so, here is a brief article on how to fix that. https://community.intuit.com/articles/1772161

Hi there, mossercpa.

Thanks for reaching out for support here in the Community. I want to make sure you're able to complete your quarterly filing and W-2s.

I appreciate you letting me know you've already tried the File Doctor. There are a couple of other options to try to resolve this error. You may want to restore a backup of the company file or use Auto Data Recovery. I've got an article for you that will walk you through the steps of these additional solutions. You can check it out here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Reports-and-accounting/Error-6144-301-when-opening-a-company-file-or-restoring-a-backup/m-p/203308.

If you still have trouble afterward, I recommend calling in to speak with a member of the Support Team. Agents have the ability to share your screen, and work alongside you to determine what's causing the problem with the missing info. The number to speak with an agent is 1-877-797-5809. The most up-to-date contact information can be found here: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.

This info will help you get back to business. I'll be here if you have any other questions. Take care.

Can you run the program and open the sample file?

Hi there, @Ann99

Thanks for following along with the thread and sharing your concerns. I'm happy to lend a hand with your error message.

Often times we can resolve this error message quickly by relaunching QuickBooks with elevated permissions. To do this, you'll need to right-click on the QuickBooks application and choose Run as Administrator

However, if the error persists, you can follow the given steps by our user, Sanya. Renaming the .NG and .TLG files are configuration files that allow QuickBooks Desktop to access the company file(s) in a network or in the multi-user mode. Corrupted or damaged .ND or .TLG files can cause errors when opening QuickBooks Desktop. Renaming these files does not cause data loss since these are automatically recreated when you open or scan the company files using QuickBooks Database Server Manager.

Additionally, you can run the File Doctor. This way, you can scan the company file for any potential data damage issues causing the error message. To do this:

Download and install the QuickBooks Tool Hub and run the File Doctor. See Fix company file and network issues with QuickBooks File Doctor.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I'm always around to help you out. Have a good one!

@Ann99

It looks like your company file is corrupted. Chat Support and ask Data Service to fix it. Otherwise, you will have to purchase a third-party file repair service.
