Hi folks. Wonder if someone has any advice for a problem I'm having. Have an older version of QB 2008. Works perfectly fine for limited use I have with it so don't want to upgrade. Had to move the program to a new computer. Of course, when I started the program it wanted me to register it. I provided my License # and Product # but still says registration not successful which can be confirmed with the F2 feature. Says I have 30 days to use the product. I don't want to enter any new data into it until resolved so I need to do something quickly. I tried one of the suggestion from a little over a year ago here where you followed the links in tech support/help to "get phone number" option but that option is no longer available. Anyone know how to resolve this issue so I can move forward and start entering data into it again? Thank you.
You have to contact Support directly to ask the activation code. If they declined to give it, you don't have any option but purchasing a new license.

QuickBooks 2008 is a discontinued version of our product. Because of this, you won't be able to register it online. You'll need a validation code to re-register your program. Intuit makes every effort to provide support for registration/licensing, however, successful registrations, providing key codes, etc. can't be guaranteed for older versions.
You'll definitely want to get in touch with our Customer Care Team to discuss this further. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment and go over what options are available.
Here's how you can contact them outside of your books:
Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.
I'll be here to help if there's any other questions. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Because of the 3-year support of all QuickBooks products, you won't be able to register discontinued products online. QuickBooks 2007 is a discontinued version, along with the assisted support. For more in-depth information on the QuickBooks policy, you can refer to this article: Discontinuation policy and upgrade information.
You can contact our Customer Care Support Team to discuss the available options for you. You can follow the steps provided by ZackE on how to contact them. For more details about our support availability, refer to this article: Contact Support.
You can read the resources below for additional information about registering QuickBooks Desktop:
Thanks for reaching out. I'll keep an eye out for your response.
Your QBD 2007 license is too old. I am not sure they will provide the validation code. Consider upgrading to QBD 2021 with a one time license. You may need upgrading your file on the trial license of QBD 2011, 2015, and 2019 prior to opening the file on QBD 2021. Contact us in private and we may share those trial codes.
There are people who do not need a newer version of quickbooks. IT is grossly unfair that you will not register their software if they move it to a new machine. They don't care about support. Their version does everything they need it to do. STOP BEING SO GREEDY INTUIT.
As long as you have the activation/validation code, you are allowed to move your license to another machine anytime, except the outdated QBD Enterprise license.
You might want to try asking a support person to escalate the issue to a supervisor who can gnenerate a validation code.
How to do you do it? I am trying to move QB 2017 from one computer to another as my old computer crashed...but when I get to registration, it won't let me get past it when I put in my address ect.. this is soo annoying...
I don't understand this. I have the disc and the Licence and Product number, it is on my new machine but when it comes to 'registering' it it won't let me enter my address and move on.. is that correct? There must be a work around for this... this is just not right.. and if this cannot be resolved I will be rethinking using QBO in the future indeed..
I have the licence code and product number.. it is on my new computer but then it says "activate"
So I put in my address and email ect.. and then I cannot get past that.... it won't allow me to click next and move on....
You need to activate it manually by using a validation code. You must chat Support to generate it.
Oh okay.. so that is good.. so they will give me one and I can do this!
did it work for you--I have the same problem with 2008

Did it work? I have the exact same problem.

Thank you for joining the thread, LindaJ53. Allow me to lend a hand in registering an older QuickBooks product.
Have you tried following the steps provided above? As mentioned in the previous replies, with the QuickBooks Desktop Service Discontinuation Policy, older versions will no longer receive product updates and cannot access online services.
You may need to contact our Customer Care Support to get a validation code to re-register the program. You can follow the steps provided by ZackE on how to reach out to them.
Additionally, check this article about fixing errors when registering in QBDT for future reference: Fix license, validation, and registration errors in QuickBooks Desktop.

QBD 2008 is too old and I am not sure Support will bother to generate the activation code.
I have Quickenbooks 2008, paid $100's for it. Still use it on my Win 7 OP. I've already tried to get it to work on my Win10. When started it says I have to call a number for "assistance". On the phone they don't even know who I am, they tell me " we don't support that version anymore" and I say "I don't need support!, just give me the code I need to make it work..i am the original owner"
They don't care, I have everything including a Validation code but they have decided to not allow my software to work despite paying for it. It's an absolute scam. I have no option to enter the Validation code either. Absolutely frustrating. DONE WITH THEM.
You can surely bet I will not be buying an intuit product for my accounting needs. I am done with their shenanigans.
i need an validation key for quick box pro 2006 and i have an serial number
how can i get my validation key pls?
QBD 2006 is too old and I am not sure Support will bother to generate the activation code.
Hi there, ahmedibrahim. Allow me to share some details where you can get the validation code to install the QuickBooks Desktop program.
Since the version that you have is already outdated you'll need to contact our Customer Care Team during support hours. They can pull up your account and check if they can still provide you with the validation code specific to you.
Here's how to reach out to them:
For reference about contacting us, you can check this article: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.
I've added an article you'll want to check for more details about the process: Activate QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
Let us know how this goes so we can further assist you. Have a great day!
It is an absolute lie for you to give someone hope that they can ever get their 2008 QuickenBooks running again. Its a fine stand alone accounting software that only needs a number to type in yet you guys simply won't do it. You can, but you refuse to. I will never consider buying another Intuit accounting software version for this reason.
