Creating Estimates

While trying to create an estimate, I get the following message.  "You can't edit this estimate. Ask your admin for edit access if you need to make any changes."  I am the company admin with full access on all available options.  How do we get this QBO issues resolved so I can get an estimate out?

Thanks for posting here, Vintage. Let me share more details on managing your estimates in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Yes, being a company admin has the access to every part of the QuickBooks account. However, please make sure that you're the company admin.

In the mean time, if you're having the same error when creating an estimates. You can try logging in to your QBO account using a private browser as it ignores websites from using cookies and doesn’t record any history and data. You can save time by using either of the following keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Press CtrlShift N
  • Safari: Press Command Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Press CtrlShift P

If it works fine, clear the cache of your original browser to refresh the page.

Additionally, you can visit this article to learn how to personalize and add specific info to your sales forms in QBO: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

This is happening to me as well.  I am the company owner and admin and received the same message.  This is so frustrating.

Creating Estimates

Hello there, michell.

I can see how vital it is to create an estimate without error in QuickBooks Online, michell. Let's go over some troubleshooting steps to ensure you can record the specified entry.

To start with, a cache full of history and temp files can cause unexpected behaviors, such as getting an error while creating a transaction in QBO. I recommend logging in to your QuickBooks account using a private browser. Then, create an estimate from there. This is to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue, and incognito doesn't store local files or cache. You can use the keyboard shortcuts provided above based on the browser you're using.

If the issue persists, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Online Support Team. They're the best support group for such inquiries as they can request account information. This way, they'll be able to identify the cause of the error and fix it as soon as possible.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Click the Help (?) icon.
  3. On the Assistant tab, enter Talk to a human.
  4. Enter a short description of your concern and press Enter.
  5. Select Contact Us to connect with a live support agent.
  6. Choose how you'll want to get in touch with the support.
  • Start a chat with a support expert.
  • Get a callback from the next available expert.

In case you need details on how the Sales page gives you a great at-a-glance view of the status of all your sales entries, you can read this article: View sales transactions in QuickBooks Online.

I've got your back if you have more questions about managing estimates in QBO. Just add your reply in the comment section so I can assist you further, michell. Take care!
