email issues - quick books accountant 2020

Hi, I wonder if somebody can please help me, this is driving me mad.

Up until a few weeks ago I was able to e-mail invoices by pressing the e-mail tab and my outlook would open up an e-mail for me to send. I've been doing this for years with no issues. Now QuickBooks opens up an e-mail panel with a preview where I press send and the e-mail does not send, it keeps asking for my e-mail password, I enter this and it will not accept it.

I would really like to go back to the simplicity of clicking the e-mail tab and outlook open in an e-mail that I can just add to with any text I want and send, but now I'm stuck with this really awkward situation where QuickBooks wants to send the e-mail and wants my e-mail password but does not accept it. Help help help. I have gone through the e-mail settings within QuickBooks probably 100 times and they are all correct I just don't know what to do now.

It's great to see you here, @CHRISD11.

I want to make sure you're able to send your email in QuickBooks. But before anything, I'd like to ask what email provider are you using or is connected in the program. This will help me check if there is an ongoing issue with your email.

For now, if your password isn’t accepted, see QuickBooks will not accept my webmail password for more information on how to fix it.

Please let me know if the steps work and mention me if you add additional details for this email issue. I'll be more than happy to help.

Hi there, @CHRISD11.

I appreciate your effort going through your e-mail settings to fix this issue. I understand how being unable to add text and send an email affects your business. I’d like to turnaround this experience by routing you to the right support.

There's an in-progress report relating to the Outlook function. To link your account to the list of affected users, I recommend reaching out to our Customer Care team. This way, you'll be able to get updates as well as learn when a solution is available.

  1. Click the Help menu at the top of your QuickBooks screen.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Hit the Contact us button.

As a workaround, you’ll want to close your QuickBooks Desktop. Open the Windows Start menu and proceed to the steps below:

  1. Type QuickBooks into the search. Then right-click the QuickBooks icon and select Open file location.
  2. In the folder, right-click the QuickBooks.exe file and select Properties.
  3. Select the Compatibility tab.
  4. Select to check the Run this program as Administrator option.
  5. Select Apply and then OK.

To learn more about setting up Outlook in QuickBooks, see this guide: Connect your email to QuickBooks Desktop

I'd also like to add that if you want to customize your email templates, we have a guide that'll help you with the process: Create custom email templates in QuickBooks Desktop

Please don't hesitate to tag my name in the comment section if you need more help other than sending emails. I'd be happy to lend a helping hand.
