I have Quickbooks Desktop Pro.  Not online.  Somehow, by accident, clicked yes on Quickbooks backup.  I don't want that.  I back up my own.  How do I cancel and get it to stop?

Let's see what we can do about this, @Nonee. I’ll walk you through the steps on how to turn off and cancel the automatic backup feature.

I can sense the urgency of stopping the backup process. With this, follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to the File menu, select Back up Company, then Create Local Backup.
  2. Click Local Backup and then Next.
  3. Tap Save it now and schedule future backups, then Next.
  4. Select a scheduled backup, then click Remove.
  5. Tap Yes, then Finish.

If you have an active subscription for Intuit Data Protect, here's how to cancel it:

  1. Right-click Intuit Data Protect from the System Tray.
  2. Select About Intuit Data Protect.
  3. Once the About Intuit Data Protect window opens, press CTRL+F2 simultaneously to open the IDP Diagnostic tool.
  4. Click Log out

For more details about this process, see this article: Disable Intuit Data Protect.

You also have the option to delete the backup folders and change its settings. For the detailed process, refer to these articles:

You've come to the right place for assistance. I can walk you through canceling the duplicate Intuit Data Protect subscription.

There are just a few steps to get this done:

  1. Go to the Intuit Account Manager or sign in to your QuickBooks account.
  2. Select Products & billing (or Products & Services) and choose the company name/account you wish to manage.
  3. Find the duplicate Intuit Data Protect subscription you want to remove and click Cancel Service.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm the cancellation and wait for your confirmation email

The following article provides additional details about disabling Intuit Data Protect.

Thank you for posting this question.  I have been being billed separately on autopay for Intuit Data Protect, a service that is already included in my whopping annual subscription to Quickbooks Desktop.  I had requested a while back that it be cancelled, and I am discovering that it never was.  The cons to autopay and all the changes that have been occurring with QB the past few years.  I sure hope Intuit will leave this product alone for those of us who use it only for payroll and do not want an online service.

I am going to attempt to cancel the subscription myself based on the information provided in your post.  Thanks again.
