Is there a way to add an adjustable "description" box on the invoice. (ie: 1hr Shop Rate (Then a spot I can add notes to what work was done?)  My current custom template has a description section where my services are entered, but they are each entered separately with the associated account that has been pre-entered.  If I type something that has not been previously added, it asks me if I want to add the new service.  I just want a "free" box whether it is separate, or part of the "shop rate" section where I can add what work or diagnosis was performed during that time.  Is this possible at all?

In QuickBooks Desktop, it's possible to add an adjustable box on the invoice where you enter some notes, @007Mechanic.

 

To proceed, we can customize your invoice template to add another column to put another description. Simply follow the steps below for the detailed steps:

 

  1. Open your invoice.
  2. From the invoice page, choose the Formatting tab.
  3. Click Manage Templates.

  4. Choose a template to preview, then click OK to edit the template.

  5. Select the Additional Customization button. 

  6. Go to the Columns section, put a checkmark on Option 1, then input a name.
  7. Once done, click OK.

Once done, you will see another column or box where you can input some notes on what work or diagnosis was performed during that time.
