Local back up issues

I do a local back up to a flash drive everyday.  All of a sudden, today, it said it couldn't because there was some problems with some data.  Said I needed to rebuild.  I did and stated it couldn't fix all and were 4 it couldn't.  Those 4 things made no sense.  3 were about bank feeds, of which I don't use with quickbooks and the other with one of my accounts and I don't understand.  I changed the flash drive, same thing and then I closed out and rebooted my computer and same thing.  What the heck is up all of a sudden?  Help

I want to stop this from happening to you, @Nonee. I have various solutions. 

 

Thanks for doing some basic troubleshooting steps before posting here in the Community. The steps you've done are the best starting point to resolve the issue. We can work together to fix the problem that wasn't resolved during the rebuilding process.

 

To begin, ensure that your QuickBooks Desktop is in the latest release. This way, you always have the latest features and fixes. You can press F2 on your keyboard to see the version you currently use. 


If it's updated and the issue persists, I'd recommend utilizing the File Doctor feature to fix company file issues. I'll show you how: 

 

  1. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub version (1.5.0.0). 
  2. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  3. Agree to the terms and conditions. Then follow the on-screen instructions. 
  4. Open the tool hub and select Company File Issues.
  5. Choose Quick Fix my File.
  6. Click OK when done.

However, if the problem continues, I'd suggest saving the backup to your local HD, then copying them to the external or cloud drive folder.

Lastly, may I ask for a screenshot of the error? This way, I can further investigate the error and provide you with the most suitable solution.

How big is your file size? Are you able to backup on your local drive?

Local back up issues

I don't know how to do a screen shot to you, but I just copied and now I'll paste.  I just did a quick fix but haven't checked yet, but based on what the problems are below, is what I don't understand.  Three of the 4 problems are bank feed issues.  I don't do online banking through quickbooks and never have so not sure how that even shows as an issue.  The other says I have an account labled American Express.  I do not.  Therein lies my problem, lol.  So I think I've given you the file below.

  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Provide some information about this concern in the search box.
  4. Click the Contact Us link at the bottom of the window.
  5. You'll now be provided with a few support options.

Your information is limited. Chat Support and ask Data Service to fix your file. Otherwise, you have to purchase a 3rd party file repair service.
