Is it possible to convert QB 2006 data to the new version of Quickbooks Desktop?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Yes, converting your QuickBooks Desktop 2006 data to the latest version is possible, ChipConnJohn. I've got insights to share to help you update and restore your company file to keep you going.
Since this desktop version is outdated and QuickBooks has a three-year lifecycle, this will require incremental updates to prevent data damage on your company file. You may have to install trial links from 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2018, and 2021 to upgrade your data gradually. Then, if you've reached these updates, you may have to install the 2023 latest version and restore your file from there. You'll first need to ensure a backup copy of your company data before converting.
Then, whenever you're ready to move your QBDT 2006 data to open it in the newest version, you may follow these steps once you've already prepared your file.
You can refer to this article for more detailed information: Move your company files after you switch to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop.
Additionally, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Team to provide you with real-time assistance in performing these steps. They can also help you with the trial links to ensure data are accurately converted. That said, here's how to reach them:
Moreover, you can check out the available trial links for the current version: Download a trial of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.

Yes for sure. Can you still run your QBD 2006 on your machine?
I doubt it. This is a new client that is running QB2006 on a winxp box from 2006!
Contact me in private and we can help to upgrade the file.
