Pop ups

Since switching to QBO, I've been receiving two pop up windows that I can't get to stop no matter what I do (deny, allow, cancel....) they keep coming back. No one I've talked to @qb can help. I only have a screen shot of one (below). This one keeps coming back if I click cancel and it won't accept my password. The other pop up asks to share confidential information from my "keychain".

Error encountered: "An update is ready to install. QuickBooks Online is trying to add a new helper tool. (Enter your password to allow this.)" [Screenshot removed by a moderator contains PII]

Thank you for adding a screenshot and elaborating your concerns, LCS3. Let me share a few troubleshooting to sort this out and improve your expertise in using the software. I'll also take note of your feedback with our live support team.

The error message indicates that QuickBooks Online attempts to install an update or a necessary component. It keeps appearing to ensure the app doesn't miss out on critical fixes and runs smoothly. When entering a Password, please review the details before clicking the Add Helper button.

Additionally, you can uninstall or delete the older app from your system before reinstalling it. This process eliminates corrupted files and refreshes its working environment. To complete the steps, refer to this article: Download and use the QuickBooks Online desktop app.

Moreover, use this guide to add an icon on your desktop for easy access: Create a desktop shortcut for QuickBooks Online.

Furthermore, keep this resource handy to speed up navigation while working on your tasks: Keyboard shortcuts for QuickBooks Online.

Ensuring your app is up to date leads to smoother performance and a better user experience. If you have further questions, kindly respond in this thread anytime. I'll be here to provide the information you need.

I have put in the correct password, but it's not being excepted.

I still have QB desktop on my computer for reference. Are you say delete my old desktop system?

I have installed the QBO app and I'm using it.

Thanks for following up with the Community, LCS3. I appreciate you performing JamaicaA's recommended troubleshooting.

Since QuickBooks is telling you your password is incorrect while it appears correctly entered to you, I'd recommend trying to sign in to the Intuit Account Manager portal. If you're entering the correct password, you'll be able to log in successfully, and even make changes to sign-in details once signed in.

Here's how to sign in and make changes:

  1. Visit your Intuit Account Manager.
  2. Use the appropriate login credentials to sign in.
  3. Go to your Sign in & security menu.
  4. Access the User ID, Email address, Password, or Phone section.
  5. Make any necessary changes.
  6. Select Save.

In the event you're unable to sign in successfully, you can try recovering your Intuit Account.

If you're able to sign in successfully to the Intuit Account Manager portal, but QuickBooks continues informing you you've entered an invalid password on your update message, you'll want to continue getting in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up the account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any questions. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Confirmed the password I'm using is correct. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the QBO app but I'm stilling getting the two pop ups. This is becoming extremely frustrating! I never had an issue like this when using the desktop version. I really wish QB wasn't muscling people out of using the desktop version. Discontinued the software version and now forcing people to use the online version versus desktop with the extremely high price of desktop!!
