Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2018 will not launch

Good morning,

I had no problem using QB yesterday. I backed up files and exited the application.

Today it will not launch via desktop app shortcut or going directly to the application file. I rebooted computer, but no chage.

After clicking the desktop shortcut, I see the round 'Welcome to Quickbooks desktop' ball, but it never advances. I opened Task Manager to see if QB was open already but only saw these in the Processes list: QBIDPService (32bit); QuickbooksAutomaticUpdate (32bit).  All help is appreciated!

I can help you open your QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2018, radar-9628.

 

Issues with opening the QuickBooks Desktop can be fixed by downloading the QuickBooks Tool Hub. This tool is designed to automatically diagnose and fix common issues within the software.

 

Below are the instructions on how to do it:

 

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.4.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  6. Once the  QuickBooks Tool Hub is open, select Program Problems.
  7. Select Quick Fix my Program.
  8. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

To ensure the components are properly updated, please restart the computer after running the tool.

Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2018 will not launch

Thank you for your reply. I updated my QB Tool Hub. I tried Quick fix my file - no launch. I ran QB file doctor and followed the new version available steps. The file doctor requires an Admin password - if I have one, I don't know where it is. (I see the QB Tool Hub has steps for a Password reset, but it requires a license # from my app which I cannot get to if I cannot open QB or find the QB application file on my laptop.)

File doctor cannot find my qbw32.exe file on my laptop. (I did a search on laptop - nothing.) I have my company files backed up on a thumb drive as of 3/26/21, but I cannot access them without the QB app. I originally bought QB Pro 2015 on CD. I updated it to 2018 by downloading the app. I cannot find documentation for that purchase. It seems I need the QB Pro 2018 application at the minimum. Then I need to find or replace my Admin password. How shall I proceed please?

As I indicated earlier I cannot launch Quickbooks at all. I have tried the QB tool hub, the QB file doctor and the problem remains. What is the most efficient way of accessing a human at QB support please?

You can connect with our Customer Care Support directly from the General Contact Us page. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. On the Which edition? field, select Pro or Premier.
  4. Enter a few words describing your concern. Say Unable to launch QuickBooks.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Choose a channel where you wish to connect with our specialists.
