2022 1099 forms

When will the 2022 1099-NEC and MISC forms be ready?   When I open the 1099 module it is still showing the due date to file as January 31, 2022 not January 31, 2023 .... so I'm assuming if I were to prepare the form that it would be the 2021 form not the 2022 form

Good morning, @ljkentucky

It's great to see you back in the Community! Allow me to give you some information about your 1099-NEC and MISC forms

The forms will start to become available on January 1. However, it may take longer or a few days after the 1st for them to show up in your account.

I recommend keeping an eye out beginning the first of January so you can get these forms get created and filed as soon as possible.

Reach back out if you have any other questions or concerns. We're always here to lend a helping hand. Take care!

Why is 1099 form (2022) not printing 2022 in calander year box located above Box #1.

I have the same issue.  It should print 22 in this space 20__.  Instead it is printing the entire 2022 which is not correct.  This is a QB issue and an update should be made to correct this.

Thank you

Thank you for joining the thread, GJ615.

I'd like to share information about the printed year on the 1099 forms.

The text on the red form stock is printed in black ink. The IRS has confirmed that forms with the date formats of 22, 2022, or 202022 will still be accepted since the 1099 processing systems cannot read the red text. Because of this, there will no longer be an update to change the date on 1099s. Just to add, this applies to both QB Desktop and QBO products, and you have a choice of printing 1099s using Intuit stock or using a third party.

For those who are using QB Mac, only the last two digits of the year will be printed on the form, not the full year.

We're just a comment away if you need more help with printing 1099 forms. Take care and have a good one!

What do I need to know:

Many of our previous 1099 customers used the IOP standalone product, which has been sunset. Going forward, those customers who want to use our 1099 service but do not have payroll or QBO will need to create a Contractor Payments account to file.

Any customers who previously used the standalone account will no longer have access to their older 1099's. If they need copies, please use the article below on how to find and send those copies to the customer.

Agent Information
What resources are available:

The KB Print your 1099 forms has information in the expert only section that has a walk through on how to access older 1099 forms.

To setup a new Contractor Payments account, direct your customer to Contractor Payments.

For more information on how to setup a 1099 account, please refer to Create and file 1099's with QuickBooks Contractor Payments.

All impacted customers will be receiving an email letting them know about this change.

Hello, I have been using quikcbooks desktop for a long time, every  year I print my 1099.s no problem. Now when I try to get a 1099 report to print my 1099's nothing shows...Can somebody help me please. I am supposed to use the new 1099-NEC now

January 9, 2023

You will need to go to  Print/Efile 1099 for NEC and continue to the Map Vendor Payment Accounts.  They all defaulted back to "Omit payment from 1099"  Remap your accounts.  Be sure to Save and Close  Then you should be able to proceed as you normally do.

Also when you look at your 1099 Summary report make sure the last box on the 1099 Option line is toggled to NEC - it always defaults to MISC

Hope this helps

I'll help you print the 1099 report, leather.

ljkentucky is correct. The vendors aren't showing up on the report since they haven't mapped as 1099 NEC or 1099 MISC. You'll need to remap your account to view and print the 1099 Summary or Detail report 1099 NEC through the 1099 wizard.

Before you proceed, please ensure that you have the most recent tax table and that your QuickBooks software is up to date. Then, you can follow the steps below.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Vendors, then 1099 Forms.
  2. Click the Print/E-file 1099 Forms, then Yes.
  3. Select Get started and choose 1099 NEC, then hit Continue.
  4. Verify the vendors that need the 1099 forms, then hit Continue again.
  5. Map the vendor payment account. Go to the dropdown in the Apply payments to this 1099 box and select the account you want to link the payment. Then click Continue when complete.
  6. Select View Included Payments or View Excluded Payments to see detailed reports. Select Continue.
  7. On the next screen you can click View Summary Report to review the vendors and amounts your going to report.

Check out this article for your reference: Create and file 1099's.

Furthermore, make sure to submit the form before the deadlines to avoid penalties. I've also included this resource to assist you with your year-end preparations: QuickBooks Desktop Year End Prep and Resources.

I'm just around to back you up if you need further assistance with 1099 reports. Have a great day.

I was a customer/ small business owner who filed 1099 with the IRS through the IOP service.  I was notified today that IOP was sunsetted, is no longer available to the public, there was no notice sent to the customers, no one at IOP will email you, your past forms, and if you had current work pending, it has all been lost.  1099 through INTUIT has been discontinued and all forms are gone.  I put in 50 hours of work and it didn't matter, because Intuit has deactivate the whole service.

I am using online QB and I am not seeing that the Wisconsin state number is being entered onto the NEC form in Box 6.  Am I doing something incorrect or missing something.

I will be printing out the forms myself and not using the 1099 filing services

Hi there. ALKING.

Allow me to share some information about 1099 in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Are you referring to EIN or State tax registration? If so, you can go to the Payroll setting to enter it. Here's how:

1. Go to the Gear icon.

2. Click Payroll Settings under Your Company.

3. Select Federal Taxes and enter your EIN, and click OK.

4. Click State Taxes and enter your state account number.

5. Once done, click OK

I've also added this helpful resource that you can access to have a guide in case you need to make corrections to 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC forms after you e-filed them: Correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks.

I'm always around the Community if you have any other concerns about managing your Form 1099-NEC. Don't hesitate to post again here. Have a good one and keep safe.

January 23, 2023

I've filed my 1099's through QB online for the last few years without any issues.  For 2022 however, I'm confused about the options.  I don't want to print my own since I don't have a printer.  Also, I hadn't in the past.  I want to file the 1099's with the IRS and have them also mailed to the recipient. My question is which option do I choose? E-file?  Will I also get a copy?

Thanks.

Thank you for posting here in the Community, @Susan CRA.

If you use our e-file service, the 1099 forms will be mailed to your contractors to the addresses indicated in the contractor's profile by January 31, 2022.

It's time to e-file once you've created your 1099s and ensured that all of the information is accurate.

Yes, you can choose the E-File option and follow the on-screen steps to complete your 1099 e-file.  If prompted, enter your billing info. You'll also be able to review each contractor's 1099.

Copy A of the Form 1099 on paper is for your records. This form should not be printed or sent to the IRS by mail.

Then, you can check the status of E-filing.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Taxes then 1099 filings.
  2. View the E-Filing status either Not Submitted, Submitted or Received by IRS.
  3. Select View 1099 to view a PDF copy

You can also check this article as your reference of the complete process of E-Filing: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Online.

For your future reference, you can check this article if you need to correct or change 1099s: Correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks.

If you have any other follow-up questions about your e-filed 1099s, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!

Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can help me out with a problem I have with 1099's. I electronically filed everyone as 1099-NEC but then realized that one of our contractors should actually have been 1099-MISC as we pay her rent. How do I make an amendment to her 1099 to switch it from NEC to MISC? TIA!
