Question

QuickBooks Pro

I helped a friend upgrade his laptop last night.  He has a very old copy of QuickBooks Pro (2006) that he needs to move to the new laptop.  Unfortunately, he can't find his software.

Is there any way to get the software?  He still has the program on his old laptop, and has the serial number and product number.  He just doesn't have the software.

Thanks (in advance)

Dave

Let me share some information in regards to your 2006 version of QuickBooks Desktop,dvdrttr214.

QuickBooks Desktop 2006 version is no longer supported. We have this policy wherein your program will be discontinued after three years.

One thing that we'll have to do is to always have the latest features and fixes by updating QuickBooks to the latest release.

I've also added these articles for more information about our discontinuation policy and upgrading your QuickBooks program:

RE: I'd be glad to help you download the 2006 version of QuickBooks Desktop, dvdrttr214...

You can download the 2016 version of QuickBooks Desktop by going to this link:

So, then, you're not going to help the OP download the 2006 version? Seems so.

Missed the point:  he needs 2006, not 2016.

@dvdrttr214

QBD 2006 is too old and I am not sure Support will gladly to share the installer file and the validation code later. Consider to purchase the one time license for QBD 2021 to upgrade your version.

Sorry  ... saying that the version is too old doesn't resolve the problem, and isn't a helpful suggestion.

I assume I'll 'step on some toes' with this comment because I'm positive community members provide a great service and do everything they can to resolve issues.

However, it would 'pay' responders to simply answer the asked question without volunteering additional information.  I didn't ask if QuickBooks Pro 2006 was a supported program.  I didn't ask how to upgrade 2006 to another version.  I didn't ask if I would run into issues installing it.  I didn't ask for many of the explanations I was given.  I simply asked if anyone knew where I could download the software (as it turned out, after a lot of searching, I was able to download the software).

Offering information and explanations that weren't requested wastes both the receiver's and sender's time.  I had to read through each response to see if the solution I was looking for was in the response and, in every  case, it was not.  A lot of other information was there but not what I requested.

Please continue the great work but remember to respond to the question asked ... it will save everyone a lot of time.  Thanks

I appreciate you for coming back to the thread and sharing your thoughts, dvdrttr214.

This is not the type of service I want you to receive from Community support, and I recognize the importance of responding directly to the question. With this, rest assured, I'll take note of this matter and pass it along on my end so that it'll be included for future support enhancement.

Lastly, I'm also adding this article to further guide you in effectively managing your business using QBDT: Help guide for QuickBooks Desktop. It contains topics about installing, upgrading, advanced accounting, banking, payments, and payroll.
