Importing data from other accounting software

Hi!

I want to "mirror" a different accounting software into Quickbooks- I can easily download all the transactions and journal entries from the other accounting system by downloading the general ledger to excel and set up an automatic map to the Quickbooks account, but I cannot find a way to upload a full general ledger to Quickbooks. It is all very basic accounting, where I have one transaction that needs to hit debit in one account and credit in another, but I cannot find any way to doing a full upload.

Importing data from other accounting software

It's a pleasure to have you here, @asole. Let me provide some information about importing data in QuickBooks.

If you wish to import data from other accounting software, I recommend reaching out to them to verify if they can integrate it directly to QuickBooks Online.

Otherwise, you can look for another third-party app that can integrate both software.

Another option we have is to create a CSV file for the transactions, then import through banking. Once done, you can categorize them.

To start, get the transactions from your bank. Then, open and review the file from your bank and make sure it's in the correct format before you upload it. Then proceed to these following steps:

  1. In QuickBooks, go to the Banking menu.
  2. Choose the Banking tab.
  3. Click the blue tile for the account you want to upload the transactions into.
  4. Choose the Link account ▼ dropdown and then click Upload from file.
  5. Select Browse and then choose the file you downloaded from your bank and then click Next.
  6. In the QuickBooks account ▼ dropdown, choose the account you want to upload the transactions into then select Next.
  7. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then select Next.
  8. Select the transactions you would like to import. Then select Next.
  9. Select Yes and select Let's go.

Now that your transactions are in QuickBooks, it's time to match and categorize them.

Keep me posted if you have other questions about importing data in QuickBooks. I'll be happy to assist you again. Have a blessed day!

Importing data from other accounting software

@asole

Do you need to run another accounting app with QB Online at the same time? Which accounting app? You may need a connector.
