Question

Margin reports

Good Morning,

I am looking for some guidance. Is anyone aware if there is a way to pull a margin report in QBO? I see that I can pull an income by customer summary that shows the income vs expense, however we pay commission off of margin and I am looking for a way to get this number faster than calculating hundreds of entries manually. Has anyone come across a solution for this?

Appreciate your help in advance.

I can help you pull up a report, @Heather TWC.

Currently, we don't have a report specifically for the Gross Margin. Instead, we can pull a Profit and Loss report and then select the "% of Income" checkbox. This way, it'll show you the money earned and spent over a while.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. On the search bar, type Profit and Loss.
  3. From the Compare another period drop-down, put a checkmark beside % of Income.
  4. Click Run report.

Additionally, you can check this article to see the available reports in QuickBooks Online: Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription.

If you ever have other questions I can help you with, feel free to swing by the Community. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Hi @Heather TWC

The QBO Income by Customer Summary report includes Income, Expenses and Net Income, see attached.

Is your issue that you want to only see Income and Cost of sales = Margin and exclude other Expenses that are allocated to each Customer?
