New invoice template - bundle

Since being moved to the new invoice template Iam encountering a couple of significant issues that are affecting my workflow. I'm hoping someone here might have a solution or could share if they're experiencing the same problems.

  1. Bundling Problems: In the new version, I am unable to drag items into a bundle, nor can I remove items from a bundle once they're added. This limitation is particularly problematic when trying to organize billable transactions into specific invoices. Previously there had been the six dots on each line within a bundle, now those are gone and to remove something from a bundle it has to be deleted, but there is no way to move it back in.

  2.
  3. Viewing Transaction Details: Previously, when adding transactions to an invoice, I could see suggested transactions with detailed descriptions. Now, it only shows "billable expense" and the amount, without any description. This makes it impossible to know if the expense is relevant to the invoice without first adding it, which is inefficient and time-consuming.

  4.

These issues are making it difficult to manage invoices accurately and efficiently. Has anyone found a workaround or heard if QuickBooks is planning to address these issues in a future update?

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated!

I recognize your feedback about the new invoice template, Kevin.

The invoice layout is still being improved. This is why some features are currently unavailable, such as dragging the items in a bundle and showing the Description of suggested transactions when creating an invoice.

To help us optimize your navigation and improve your QBO experience, I recommend sharing your valuable insights and suggestions with our product developers. This way, they can review your requests and implement features most needed by users.

Here's how:

  1. Go to + New and select Invoice.
  2. Click the Feedback icon.
  3. Provide your insights regarding the new invoice experience.
  4. Select Submit feedback.

Additionally, please refer to this article on how to receive a payment for an invoice in QBO to keep your book balance: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

Please know you can always share your thoughts in the Community space, and we'll get back to you promptly to address your concerns. Take care.

Thank you for acknowledging the issues with the new invoice template in QuickBooks and for guiding me on how to provide feedback directly to the product development team. I appreciate the efforts to improve the interface and functionality.

However, as these features are crucial for the efficient management of my invoicing processes, I am finding it particularly challenging to perform essential tasks, such as accurately invoicing my clients. The ability to drag items into bundles and view detailed descriptions of transactions are fundamental to my daily operations.

Could you provide any insights into the expected timeline for these updates? Knowing when the functionalities might be restored or improved would greatly help in planning my workflow and managing client expectations.

I need the bundle feature too. But I am just now having the problem in September. Can we revert to the old invoices?

I don't know how Quickbooks has managed to stay in business or how there aren't any class action lawsuits with their inept business practices.

Thank you for joining the conversation and sharing your thoughts, @CCI4ASL. We appreciate your patience as we're implementing changes to our invoice layout. I'm here to share additional information about the new format and features.

QuickBooks is continuously updating its invoice design to enhance user experience. As part of this transition, they are moving new and old users  to the new invoice experience. With these changes, please know that the ability to switch back to the old invoice layout won't be available.

For more details, I recommend checking out this article: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online. This contains a detailed overview of the features and functionalities that have been added or removed from the new invoice format.

Moreover, the new layout experience does not allow you to drag items out of a bundle. As a workaround, you'll have to edit the bundle from the Product/service section to make the necessary changes. To do so, here's how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Head to the Gear icon, then Products and services.
  3. Locate the bundle item and click Edit.
  4. On the Bundle window, make the necessary changes.
  5. Once done, click Save and close.

Don't hesitate to reply to this post if you have other concerns regarding the new invoice experience. We'll be sure to help you in addressing it.
