QBO Trial Balance by Class

Hello, nicolekroosz.

Let me share some insights on how to get this kind of report in QuickBooks.

Instead of running the Trial Balance report, you can pull up the Journal reports showing the underlying Class and especially to show up the dates. This report also contains the debits and credits of the account.

  1. From the Reports menu.
  2. In the search field, type in Journal.
  3. Click the Customize button.
  4. Tap Rows/Columns and mark check the Class
  5. Press Run report.

I'll add this article as a reference on how to personalize a report in QBDT: memorize reports in QuickBooks Online. It includes links that cover basic information about reports like setting up and modify Scheduled reports.

Please know that I'm just a post away if you have additional questions about the QuickBooks reports. Have a great day ahead and stay safe!

QBO Trial Balance by Class

Ok, thanks.

But how do I filter to only see one class? I am not seeing that in the customize option?

Thanks for coming back here, nicolekroosz.

I checked my test file and can confirm that the customization in the Trial Balance and Journal repot are limited. Both reports are unable to filter by class.

To get the information you need, you can run a separate report like the General Ledger or Transaction Detail by Account. Then, go to the Customize section and filter the class.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports on the left panel.
  2. Search for the General Ledger or Transaction Detail by Account.
  3. Click the Customize button and go to the Filter section.
  4. Put a check mark on the Class box and choose the specific class you want to view.
  5. Hit Run report.

I've got this sample screenshot for a visual reference:

You also have an option to export the Trial Balance to Excel and get the class data in the reports I've mentioned. Then, manually add a class column and enter the details. Here's a link for the instructions: Export your reports to Excel from QuickBooks Online.
