I've come to share details about customizing the bill payment stub template in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @KathyR.

For the time being, customizing the bill payment stub isn't an option in QBDT. That's why the template doesn't have buttons for Additional Customization or Layout Designer to make changes to it. However, you can print (from the File menu's Print Forms option) it to view the list of all the bills you've paid. Please see the screenshot below for your reference.

As of the moment, there isn't an integrated way to customize the bill payment stub template to personalize the contents. We're also unable to provide the exact turnaround time as to when this feature will be added to the program design.

While the option is not yet available, I'd highly suggest letting our product developers know about your request by sending feedback. I'll show you how.

1. Go to Help.
2. Select Send Feedback Online.
3. Click Product Suggestion.
4. Under Product Area, choose Customers & Sales.
5. Enter a few words describing how you wanted to customize the bill payment stub template for your business.
6. Select Send Feedback.
7. Click Close Window.

For what we're paying for this new subscription model annually, this is a big miss by QBDT.  Every form should be customizable.  I will submit my feedback, so hopefully this gets implemented.  

Yes I agree this needs to be customizable. My reference numbers for some bills do not display the entire reference number because the column is not big enough...

Their replies always amaze me...full of info that's 100% crap.

I could not agree more with you.  I just upgraded from QB Desktop Enterprise Accountant 2020 to 2022, and as soon as I did, my bill payment stubs are cutting off the invoice numbers in the "Reference" column.  The fact that I don't have the ability to edit the form to correct that is ridiculous.  It's creating SO many problems with vendors and for our own internal future reference when we need to review a bill payment stub.  This feature can't just be a "...we'll see if we can implement it in the future..."  It MUST BE IMPLEMENTED ASAP.  This is COMPLETELY unacceptable, Intuit.  This is BASIC functionality that, especially with an Enterprise subscription (but really ANY Desktop version subscription), should be basic functionality.  The fact that we cannot resize columns or make ANY layout changes to a form as commonly-used as the bill payment template is a JOKE!  FIX IT!

My Bill Payment Stubs have had the same appearance for the last 16 years. To have them altered by the update in a way that is not functionally the same or aesthetically pleasing is wrong in the first place. I should have the option to keep the old template. Secondly, if any form is not functionally the way I need it, I should be able to alter it to suit my needs. Just give us the old template back at the very least this is stupid.

These were always customizeable. This is ridiculous. It looks terrible.

Is there a way to add the expense account number or name to the bill payment stub?

Cutting off the Reference number in the new Bill Payment Stub with new 22 update is causing severe problems in our operation.  We pay anywhere from 20 to 100 invoices to multiple vendors every day.  We have to send them the bill payment stub details with their reference numbers in full.  With this new update, we are having to write these reference numbers and create a  manual bill payment stub.  We need this to be fixed ASAP.

Yes, I've done this. So have a bunch of other users, and it's still not resolved.

All I would like to do is add our company LOGO to my Bill Payment form. There is an option to add a logo but there are no customization options to adjust and fit the logo properly.  Is that something coming in the future? Thank you

In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2022, you have the option to tailor your bill payment stubs as well as email them. Please know that this feature is available in the Enterprise version.

If you’re using a different one, you can consider upgrading to QuickBooks Enterprise. These resources will guide you through the process and help you get started using the new desktop program.

• Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise
• Upgrade to QuickBooks Enterprise from Desktop Pro/Premier

I HAVE Enterprise. You can't edit the template.

I really feel like it's just a bunch of bots replying to these. I have Enterprise as well. Spent 2 hours on the phone, and THEN they figured out that it didn't work. Also have done all updates. I have submitted the feedback several times, and obviously not fixed. The rep I spoke to was going to "escalate" the issue. That was a month ago. This software is a bad running joke.

I definitely understand how it can be frustrating to sign up for a service and have it not work the way you think it should be. 

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 2022 introduces several features to help automate and streamline your daily accounting tasks. One of them is adding bill payment stubs to the list of customizable QuickBooks forms. Please take note that this option isn't available for QBDT Enterprise 2021 and below versions. 

If you're already using this version but to no avail, update QuickBooks Desktop to its latest release. This keeps your software up-to-date so you always have the latest features and fixes. Here's how:
 

1. Go to the Help menu and click Update QuickBooks Desktop.
2. Select the Update Now tab. 
3. Click Get Updates to start the download.
4. When the download finishes, restart QuickBooks.
5. Once prompted, accept the option to install the new release.

If you're still getting the same result, run the repair tool for QuickBooks Desktop for Windows. You can use the Quick Fix my program tool to fix common errors right away. 

If the issue persists, I'd suggest getting in touch with our QuickBooks Support Team. This way, they can perform further investigations to help resolve the problem.
