Export to Excel

When I run my BS for 12/31/2021 QBO reflects the balances I expect but when I export to Excel, all balances are zero. Any suggestions?

I want to ensure you'll be able to see the correct balances when exporting your report from QuickBooks Online (QBO), @BK32.

There are times that the web cache in your browser can interfere in accessing frequently visited websites such as QBO. To isolate the issue, let's access your QBO account using a private browser. This prevents you from saving data on your device to avoid issues. I've listed the shortcut keys you can use depending on your browser type:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

When signed in, go to the Reports menu to open and export your Balance Sheet report again. You'll see the .xlsx file at the bottom part of the window. Right-click the file and select Open. If the file is in Protected View, simply select the Enable Editing button. From there, see if the correct balances will show.

If this works, I'd recommend clearing the cache of your regular browser to have a clean slate. Browser's cache helps your system to load faster. These, on the other hand, can also prevent web pages from loading.

If the same thing happens, you may want to use another supported browser. Performing QBO tasks usually depends on your computer’s operating system, your internet speed, and your web and mobile browser.

You'll want to change the format or remove and add columns of your report to display only the data you need the most. Once done, you can memorize the customization to apply the changes in the future.

In case you need additional assistance in exporting your reports in QBO, please add your reply below. I'd be glad to help you once more. Have a great day ahead.
