Saving CVV code on customer account

We have customers that we run a credit card on file for monthly. We are currently using merchant services center. Under a customers account, payment info, there is no field to save the security code. Where can this be saved so that we are not having to bother our customers each month for the cvv code on the back on their card? The whole purpose in having the credit card on file is to avoid contacting them each month.

RE: Under a customers account, payment info, there is no field to save the security code.

This is because, based on the PCI Standards agreement, storing the security code is not allowed.

Saving CVV code on customer account

Thanks for reaching out, @juliO123. I know the importance of saving the CVV code.

Every time a customer pays, you'll need to enter the card security code (CVV) to verify the authenticity and validity of a credit card when it's not physically present. However, the option to store the card security code on file isn't an option. You need to enter it every time you receive payment from the customer.

But if you charge your customer via card reader, that's the time that you can store CVV. To save the CVV code, here's how:

  1. On your Merchant account, click the Processing Tools tab.
  2. Select Charge a card.
  3. In the Charge a card window, enter the credit card info, including the Card Security Code
  4. Once done, click Submit.

To learn more about accepting customer payments, see the below articles. It contains information about the different process methods.

I'm just a comment away if you need further assistance in entering your other customer information. Take care and have a good one.

No, the rules are clear. You can't store it using a card reader. You can only hang on to it long enough to execute the charge.
