It's nice to have you in the Community today, @cmaloy

I understand that you are having an issue with your Open Sales Order Report in QuickBooks Desktop which is not showing the dollar sales order. I am here to help you how to achieve your goal.

First, make sure your QuickBooks Desktop is updated to the latest release to ensure the system is running on the newest patch and fixes. Then run the Verify Rebuild tool to fix this. This scans your company file for errors and self resolved them right away. Let me show you how.

To Verify:

  1. Go to the Window menu and select Close All.
  2. Then, go to the File menu.
  3. Select Utilities.
  4. Click Verify Data.

To Rebuild:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities.
  3. Click Rebuild Data.

Zero Dollar Sales Orders not on open orders report

Maybe I didn't explain this correctly.  I have sales orders (open orders) that are at no cost to the customer.  These orders do not show on the report.

Appreciate the update, @cmaloy.

I hear you and I'm here to ensure you're able to run the Open Sales Order report with sales orders that has no cost to your customers in QuickBooks Desktop.

I too had to make sure the said report does show sales orders with zero amount of transaction. And I found out it shows your desired transaction.

This is the reason why my colleague shared the QuickBooks utility tool above attempting to identify why your report is not working as expected. We may need to continue the troubleshooting if the steps above did not display the transaction data on your report.

First set:

  1. Download the QuickBooks Tool hub.
  2. Open and install the downloaded file.
  3. On the QuickBooks Tool app, select Program Problems.
  4. Click Quick Fix my Program.

Second set:

  1. Go to Start.
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. Under Program and Features, select Uninstall a Program.
  4. From the list of applications, select QuickBooks.
  5. Select Uninstall/Change.
  6. Click Repair.

Once done, consider generating the Open Sales Order report to make sure your sales orders for customers with a $0.00 amount of transaction are showing.

On that note, I've included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use to get an in-depth understanding of your business's financial activity: Know Where you Stand Financially using the Reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

If there's anything else that I can help you with aside from generating reports in QuickBooks, please let me know in the comments. I'll be here to lend a helping hand. Stay safe!
