Question

How do I change from a facial id to a passcode?

Someone else needs to access the phone while I’m gone and I need to add a passcode instead of facial id.

We need to configure the security settings in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) app to enable the passcode option, Trloeffler. I'm happy to guide you through the steps to do this.

For iOS:

  1. Open the QuickBooks Online (QBO) app on your device and go to the Menu icon at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap your profile to view more details about your account.
  3. Click the Face ID and Passcode link and turn off the Face ID option.
  4. Enable the Passcode feature and set and confirm your new passcode.

For Android:

  1. Go to your device's settings.
  2. Look for the security or biometrics section.
  3. Find the option to switch from a Facial ID to a Passcode.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up a passcode

Is there an updated version of these instructions? I’m trying to disable Face ID for Quickbooks on my iPhone but the menu options don’t match what’s above. Thanks.

You can disable Face ID for QuickBooks in your iPhone's Settings and use an App PIN instead. The earlier steps do not match your screen because the app's settings can look different depending on your device and app version.

This article walks you through setting up the App PIN, which you can use to open the QuickBooks app with a code: Use a PIN or Touch ID to sign into the app (iOS only).

If you run into any trouble finding those settings or need help with anything else while getting this set up, feel free to reach out. Have a smooth and productive rest of your day.

Hey thanks. Yeah, I actually came across the App Pin option when searching for a solution online before, but for the life of me I can’t seem to find that option anywhere. Fyi, I have the latest iPhone software and the most recent version of the Quickbooks ios app. The Quickbooks instructions to set up the App Pin say “Go to your device's Settings, then select App PIN” but on that same page if you look at the instructions for setting up Touch ID it says “From the Menu ☰, select Settings”. It’s never quite clear if I’m supposed to be in the iPhone Settings or the Quickbooks app settings. Either way though, neither one has an App PIN option anywhere to be found. Am I looking in the wrong place, or has this method been eliminated since Quickbooks changed where the Sign-in settings are located (now in the Intuit Account settings)?

By the way, this a much more frustrating process because Intuit still hasn't fixed the login issue for this site (https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community). People haven't been able to log in for over a year now unless they open a separate private/incognito page. I was able to log in today after clearing my cache, but an hour later I was logged out and couldn't log back in again. To add insult to injury, this happens without warning. So after we put the time and energy into posting helpful info or an issue, everything we just typed vanishes and we get the "Something's gone wrong" message and have to start all over (if we can even log back in).
