Question

Cannot Print Checks

Hi,

I cannot print checks from the banking section of the home screen. When I click on "Print Checks", it goes into a setup loop, asking me if I'm finished with setup and then sending me back to the home screen no matter what answer I give it. This happens in both Desktop view and the online view.  Is there a fix for this?

Thanks

Hello there, @jaynew

I'm here to help you print your check seamlessly in QuickBooks Online. If we're setting up our print checks, we'll need to set this up. Selecting between No, continue set up, or Yes, I'm finished with setup, the Print check window will close, bringing you back to your banking home screen.

To complete the process, you need to reopen the Print checks and click Print and Preview at the lower right corner of your screen.

  1. Go to + New.
  2. Under Vendors, choose Print checks.
  3. On the Print Checks page, click the Preview and print.
  4. On the Print preview window, hit Print.

I recommend visiting this article to know more on how to set up your print settings: Configure your print settings for printing checks in QuickBooks Online.

Thanks for the reply.  The 'Print checks' button in the 'Banking' section of the home screen does not work.  It does not print checks.  It takes me to 'Print checks SETUP' page, not the 'Print checks' page.  I have to leave the Desktop view to print checks in the manner that you suggest.  That is inconvenient and should be an unnecessary step.

Moreover, I cannot print my checks in the Print checks setup by clicking the View preview and print sample, as you suggest.  I can only print a sample check doing that.

I did not have this issue using the desktop version, but was forced to migrate to the online version.  This online version does not work.

Hello there, @jaynew. We'll provide details to help you through this and print checks inside QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Before anything else, know this isn't the experience we want you to have and that we recognize the urgency of this matter. It may have something to do with the browser you're using. Please know that when browsers have temporary internet files, it speeds up your browsing experience. But too many of those temporary internet files can sometimes cause your printing activities to get stuck or stop working.

In cases like this, we recommend performing some basic troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of being in this situation. You'll want to access your account using an incognito or private browser. Feel free to use these shortcut keys:

  • Chrome: Ctrl+Shift+N
  • Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+P
  • Safari: Command+Shift+N

Once you're in, try to print checks. If it works and you're able to print one, you can proceed to clear your browser's cache. Refer to this article for the steps: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.

the issue persists, we recommend contacting our Customer Care Team so they can access your account in a secure environment and conduct further investigation to determine the root cause of this problem. See this page for more details: QuickBooks Online Support.

Also, in your Print Checks page, ensure there are items in your print queue and that you've ticked the box beside the check you want to print. This way, when you click the Preview and Print button, the system will recognize you're ready to print. Feel free to visit this article: Print a check in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, we're adding this article to help you correct printing alignments when printing checks inside QBO: Configure your print settings for printing checks in QuickBooks Online.

seems no connection

Can you clarify what you meant by no connection? Are you referring to a connection issue when printing a check, or something else happening on your end?

Any extra detail will help me guide you better.
