How can I make a rule to split transactions by percentage in QB Desktop? The amounts of the bills are different every month, but I need to split them 50/50.

I can share some information about creating a rule in QuickBooks Desktop, @mdambro.

In QuickBooks Desktop, the option to create a rule by splitting a transaction by percentage is currently unavailable. Adding that to our existing tools will undoubtedly save you time when reviewing your transactions. I'd like to invite you to submit feedback to our developers so that this functionality can be included in future updates. Rest assured that I will do the same.

Here's how:

  1. Select Send Feedback Online from the Help menu.
  2. Click the Product Suggestion from the drop-down menu.
  3. Fill out the on-screen instructions in the QuickBooks Feedback window.
  4. After that, click Send Feedback.

Here's an article that can guide you in creating rules to categorize your transactions in different modes: Create rules to categorize transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

Follow the steps given in this article on  reconciling an account in QuickBooks Desktop to ensure that your transactions in QuickBooks match your bank and credit card statements and are balanced and accurate.

Please let me know if you require any additional assistance in making rules by leaving a comment below. I'm always willing to assist. Have a wonderful rest of the week!
