Happy Friday, QuickBooks Community! Creating great content doesn't always mean starting from scratch. One of the biggest takeaways from a Flipboard article on content marketing is that businesses can build credibility by consistently sharing valuable, relevant information that helps their audience solve real problems. Whether you're a bookkeeper, accountant, consultant, or small business owner, think about the questions your customers ask most often. Those questions can become blog posts, social media updates, newsletters, or short videos. By sharing helpful tips and reliable resources, you position yourself as a trusted expert instead of someone who only promotes products or services. The article also highlights the importance of quality over quantity. A few well thought out, useful posts will often have a greater impact than publishing content every day without a clear purpose. Focus on creating content that educates, inspires, or solves a challenge your audience faces. As you head
Happy Wednesday, everyone! When people think about branding, they often picture a logo, color palette, or catchy slogan. While those elements are important, it reminds us that a strong brand is really about the story you tell and the experience you create for your customers. Your brand is what people remember after they've interacted with your business, and it's one of the biggest factors that sets you apart from your competitors. Your brand story doesn't have to be complicated. It starts with understanding why you started your business, what problems you solve, and what values guide your work every day. Customers are increasingly choosing businesses that feel authentic and trustworthy. Sharing your journey, your mission, and even the challenges you've overcome can help build stronger relationships and long-term customer loyalty. As your business grows, it's important to make sure your branding stays consistent across every customer touchpoint. Whether someone visits your website, rec
Did you know that inventory is more than just what's sitting on your shelves? A recent QuickBooks Blog article explains that inventory directly affects your cash flow, profitability, and your ability to grow your business. When inventory isn't managed well, it can quietly tie up cash and make it harder to invest in new opportunities. A few simple habits can help you stay on top of your inventory: Review your inventory regularly to identify slow-moving products. Keep an eye on trends so you can order smarter, not just more. Use real-time reporting to understand how inventory impacts your cash flow. Adjust purchasing based on customer demand instead of guesswork. Inventory management isn't just about avoiding stock shortages. It's about making informed decisions that keep your business financially healthy and ready for future growth. Even small improvements can have a lasting impact on your bottom line. Question of the day: What's your biggest inventory challenge? It is having too much s
As a small business owner, when you're your own boss, I'm sure it can be tempting to do all of your banking within one account. This article from bankrate.com breaks down the reasons why that may not be a great idea...Key features PersonalPersonal checking accounts are designed to meet everyday financial needs with straightforward features and easy access to money. These accounts may also have features like automatic bill-paying, easy transfers to other accounts and the ability to send and receive funds electronically. BusinessBusiness checking accounts offer the same features as personal accounts, but they are designed to help you run and grow your business. Some banks offer merchant services that let you accept credit card payments. They may also provide access to a line of credit to support businesses

We handle a lot of our client’s compliance filings (e.g., annual reports, foreign qualifications, good standings, etc.) on excel and I’m curious if you guys use a specific software to track this stuff or if you mostly outsource this work to third parties (i believe there is third parties that do this?). Small firm so not sure if other small firms have similar experiences / advice here. I really appreciate it.
Hey there ladies and gentlemen! We're back here on the Business Discussion space, sharing an article from the QuickBooks Blog. This one goes over the updated terms for creating a modern business plan, and even provides a free template download for you to use! Let's check it out. What is a business plan?"A business plan is essentially your company’s roadmap. It lays out your goals, strategies, financial projections, and how you’ll run your day-to-day operations. Happy Wednesday, everyone! Can you believe it is already Wednesday? This is the perfect time to pause and check in on your business. Rather than waiting until the weekend or the end of the month, taking a few moments on Wednesday to review your progress can help you stay focused and avoid surprises.Ask yourself a few simple questions:• Are you on track to meet this week's goals?• Have you sent out all outstanding invoices?• Are your recent income and expenses recorded accurately?• Is there a task you've been putting off that only takes a few minutes to complete?• What is one win you've had so far this week?A quick midweek review can help you catch small issues before they become larger problems, improve your productivity, and give you a clearer picture of where your business stands. Building a successful business is about more than great products, competitive pricing, or effective marketing. Some of the most important moments that shape customer trust happen behind the scenes through what experts call "invisible touchpoints." According to our Forbes article today, these are the small interactions customers experience that often go unnoticed by businesses but leave a lasting impression. Invisible touchpoints can include how quickly emails are answered, how easy your website is to navigate, the clarity of your invoices, or how smoothly a customer issue is resolved. While these moments may seem minor, they often influence whether customers feel confident doing business with you again. Customers remember how a business makes them feel throughout their journey. Consistency, reliability, and attention to detail help build trust over time. When every interaction reflects your company's values, customers are more likely to become loyal advocates for your brand. This
Welcome friends! Thanks for stopping by the Business Discussion board. Today I'd like to share an article I came across on Inc.com that covers three ways to make your business newsletter more engaging. Here are a few key points... Ask for feedback"To get a clearer idea about how you could improve, start by gathering impressions about the current format and content of your newsletter. Ask for feedback from groups like: Your team (especially those outside of the marketing department) Colleagues and peers Your own audience For the latter, a short survey should be enough to find out what readers enjoy and what they tend to skip." Reconsider your layout and format"Have you ever opened a long email and felt like closing it right away? Even great content can lose readers if the layout feels overwhelming or difficult to scan. To make your newsletter more inviting: Choose a font that’s comfortable to read Avoid overly long sentences and paragraphs Highlight key takeaways" Always edit AI-writte
