QuickBooks Online does not support custom fields on item, but they are available on transactions and customer or vendor profiles. As an alternative, you can use the SKU field to enter custom codes, categories, or identifiers for your products and services.

Here’s how:
 

1. Click the Gear icon and select Products and services.  
2. Select Edit for an existing item or click New product/service.
3. In the Basic info section, enter your information into the SKU field.
4. Click Save and close.
