Active Payroll Items Missing from Enter Payroll screen (QB Desktop)

Active payroll items that I have used for 15 years have disappeared from the Enter Payroll screen in QB Desktop.  They are not showing as items I can add in Available Columns.  New active payroll items are unavailable to add as well.  There are inactive payroll items now showing up.  QB Support has been unable to help or fix.  Any suggestions.

It’s quite inconvenient to have active items that you’ve relied on for 15 years suddenly disappear, especially when you’re trying to run payroll and haven’t received a resolution. This usually happens when an incorrect backup file is accidentally opened, which restores old settings and replaces your recent items.

To verify this, press F2 on your keyboard and check the file information path to ensure you are not working in a temporary folder. If the path is temporary, please open your most recent dated file.

Once you are in the correct file, ensure QuickBooks and your payroll tax tables are fully updated. Then, run the Verify and Rebuild Data utility to scan for any data corruption preventing your payroll items from displaying correctly.

If the issue persists, test for it in a sample company file. If it works there, launch the QuickBooks Tool Hub and use Quick Fix My File under Company File Issues to repair any deeper file problems.

Please don't hesitate to reply below if you still encounter the same problem or have other questions.

Unfortunately, that isn’t it.  I was on phone with QB Support for almost 2 hours and tried all solutions before and during the call.  Apparently other people are having the same issue.  It is more than a item that has been used for 15 years disappearing from the screen.  The bigger issue is that in the Show/Hide Columns popup, active items are missing from the Available Columns list and inactive items have taken their place.

I have been able to edit a payroll check to divide the cost between two classes….until today…..now I get a message that I must upgrade (more $) to another plan to do this.  We have two employees.  This is literally something I’ve been able to do under the current plan that I’m paying for.  Very upsetting.
