Can anyone guide me on how to add a new employee's contribution. A screen shot would be great since this old lady sometimes missread things.

Your Chart of Accounts is still intact, and your Software Expense account is right where it should be. You just need to scroll down on the Bill form and click Category details to expand it, then select your Software Expense account from there.

Here are the steps to add a new contribution for your client's employee in QuickBooks Online.

Here's how:

  1. Go to All apps, then click Payroll, and choose Employees.
  2. Select your employee.
  3. Scroll down to Deductions & contributions, then click the pencil icon

  4. Select + Add deduction/contribution or choose your deduction/contribution and fill it out

  5. Hit Save, then Done.

I’m trying to enter a bill for some software subscriptions, but when I open the Bill screen, I can’t find the box where I select my 'Software Expense' account! There’s only a section asking for Items or Products and Services.
Did my Chart of Accounts get deleted, or why is the expense category section completely hidden?
