Question

paystub worker sees on workforce app is wrong because it doubles the qualified overtime

Correct: The payroll stub inside the Team>Employees “print pay stub” shows  $87,400.00  YTD Gross
Correct: The Summary report shows  $87,400.00  YTD Gross

BUT

Wrong: The paystub on the Workforce app shows $93,862.75 YTD Gross
What the employee sees on their workforce app is wrong because it adds qualified OT twice (its both included and a line item qualified overtime tracking)
As a result Fred thinks he has grossed $93,862.75 but he has only grossed  $87,480.00

The qualified overtime tracking amount of 6382.75 is doubled.

To fix the Workforce app showing the wrong YTD Gross for Fred, correct the paycheck setup where the tracking pay type was incorrectly mapped as an active earning.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Payroll, then select Employees and click on Fred.
  2. Click Edit next to Pay types.
  3. Confirm the Qualified Overtime item is set up as tracking-only (it shouldn't affect gross pay). This is just a verification step, since the Print Pay Stub and Summary Report already confirm his actual YTD Gross is correct at $87,480.00.
  4. Save the changes.

Once that's corrected, have Fred refresh or re-sync the Workforce app so his YTD Gross updates to the correct $87,480.00, which matches his Print Pay Stub and Summary report.

It's worth knowing this field only feeds W-2 Box 14 reporting and never affects net pay, so Fred hasn't been shortchanged, and payroll hasn't overpaid him.

Jevee said “Unassign the extra Qualified Overtime pay type from Fred's profile to stop QBO from double-counting his earnings.”  ??????
No one here at our company every assigned anyone Qualified OT up.  This qualified overtime was set up automatically by QuickBooks.  Is this not QuickBooks error?

I do not think Jevee is correct.

All the other reports on payroll are correct…. the only report that is wrong is the employees paystub when viewed on the workforce app.   If it is correct in at least 5 places.  and only wrong when viewed through workforce why would i want to correct it like the way Jevee said,

Since the Workforce app pay stub is inflated, I suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Workforce live chat directly so they can take a deeper look and fix the mismatch between the Workforce app and your payroll reports.

In the meantime, I suggest printing the accurate pay stubs directly from QuickBooks to provide Fred with a reliable reference.
