termination paycheck

I am trying to follow the instructions for creating an unscheduled employee termination paycheck in QB online payroll.  https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/process-payroll/create-final-employee-paychecks/00/185947

 

This article tells me to pick "Bonus only, Commission only, or Fringe benefits" from the dropdown, but this is just regular pay and I need QB to calculate the taxes.

 

How do I run an unscheduled employee termination paycheck?

    We can create an unscheduled check for a termination paycheck for an employee in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

     

    Here's how:

    1. Go to the Payroll menu, and then click Employees.
    2. At the upper right corner, click Run payroll.
    3. From the Run Payroll window, choose a payment schedule for your payroll.
    4. Click Continue.
    5. Find the employee you want to pay, and then click the Create another check link.
    6. Enter employee compensation, including any salary adjustments, vacation or sick hours, and other payment types.
    7. Confirm the pay period and check date.
    8. Select Preview Payroll, and then click Submit payroll.

    Once done, you'll want to update their employee status. This way, they'll be removed from your active employee list so you don’t get billed for them anymore. Go to the In QuickBooks Online Payroll drop-down ▼ of this article for the steps: Update employee status.

    What if paycheck is in the middle of the payroll period. How di I adjust? There is no way to edit/adjust the pay period

    I’m here to walk you through the steps on how to adjust the pay period of your payroll, @Lindaecovillage.

     

    Let’s perform some steps and then you’re all good to go. Let me guide you how:

     

    1. Go to the Gear icon.
    2. Select Payroll Settings.
    3. In the Payroll and Services section, select Pay Schedules.
    4. Click Edit next to the pay schedule you want to update.
    5. Then click Update.

    Your solution does not work. I have no option to create another check for a particular person.

    I'm glad that you've joined the thread, @funtastic.

     

    I understand how it feels to fall short of your objective. However, you'll be relieved to know that the option of creating another paycheck is available.

     

    This is accomplished by re-running the payroll. And I'm here to help you through it.

     

    Here's how:

     

    1. Go to Payroll then select Employees.
    2. On the upper right of the employee names click Run payroll.
    3. In the "Pay from" dropdown select an account.
    4. Select a Pay period where there is an existing paycheck to the person you want to create another check.
    5. Click the Preview payroll.
    6. Once done, it will show up in the Employee list below, and beside the name of the employee, there is a prompt that would show. Then, click Create another check for (ex. Jon).
    7. Another prompt will be shown, then select Create another check.

     

     

     

     

    Following that, each page's column will be ready for data entry for your check. Before you begin, double-check the pay period to ensure it's correct.
