when will e-file w-2s for NC be released

North Carolina (NC) state W-2s are available to view, print, and e-file in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Payroll in mid-January, between January 10th and 13th, with a deadline to file before January 31st. 

To confirm when it was released you can view it  in the Payroll Tax Center of your QBDT Payroll. Before you E-file the W-2s, ensure your QBDT is updated to the latest release to access the forms.

Here are the steps to E-file your W-2s:

1. Open your QBDT company file.
2. Select Employees, then Payroll Tax Forms & W-2s, and then Process Payroll Forms.
3. In the File Forms section, choose your state worksheet.
4. Review the Select Filing Period year and change it if you need to. Once done, select Ok.
5. Fill out the W-2 worksheet and click Check for errors to make sure everything is correct before e-filing.
6. When you’re ready, select E-file.
7. Enter your email address and contact phone number.
8. Once finished, select Submit.
