Visualizing your monthly income in QuickBooks Online is a great way to track your business growth! The exact steps depend on which QBO plan you're currently using. Here is how you can set it up:
If you are using QuickBooks Online Advanced, you have access to the Performance Centre, which lets you build and view custom revenue charts and graphs directly inside QuickBooks. Here is how to create one:
Go to the Reports menu on the left navigation bar.
Select Performance Centre.
Click Add new chart in the upper-right corner of your screen.
Select Revenue, then click Continue.
Customize your view by filtering the Time period and choosing how to Group by (Items, Income, Customers, or None).
Pick your preferred layout: Vertical bars or Trend line.
Once done, you can add it directly to your Dashboard for easy viewing.
If you're on QBO Plus or below, you have two great options to get those visuals:
The Dashboard Snapshot: Your main Dashboard features a built-in Profit & Loss snapshot. You can quickly filter this by period (e.g., last month, this quarter) for an instant visual overview.
For a more detailed month-by-month graph, you can run the Profit & Loss report customised by month, then export it to Excel, and build your own chart from there that looks exactly how you want it to.
