Someone with Intuit called me stating that we can upgrade to the Enterprise Gold Edition which includes payroll and would do away with the monthly payroll cost. Is this a legit call?

Do you have QB Desktop Pro/Premier Plus with Enhanced Payroll at this time? When is your renewal subscription due?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, tmarie2. I'll help share how we can prevent these fraud calls from parties claiming to be affiliated with Intuit.

Please be aware that Intuit will only contact you if you request a callback over a QuickBooks issue. These scams involve fraudsters posing as legitimate technical support representatives to gain access to your personal and financial information.

With this, please know that we have strict policies and procedures to safeguard your personal data. Any remote sessions performed during the call should be disconnected or uninstalled to secure your account.

If you haven't requested to upgrade your QuickBooks Desktop subscription, you can report any suspicious calls directly to our Security team to stop this from happening and prevent security risks. To do that:

  1. Go to our Privacy and Security page.
  2. Scroll down to the Security section and choose Report technical support scams.
  3. Then, click on the security email.

In case you also receive a suspicious email, you can utilize these references in the future to help you recognize official Intuit correspondence and websites:

I'll be on this thread anytime you require assistance safeguarding information on your account. Just let me know below, stay safe.

So, can you tell me if this is, in fact, a fraudulent call? In short, if I ever do choose to update, upgrade, etc., is that something that can be done through My Company within QuickBooks or does it take someone with Intuit to actually accomplish that? I'm just looking for a straight up, definite answer. With all the other calls I get from people posing as a QB representative and that my subscription is expiring and they need me to update my payment information, I just don't know who to believe anymore. My employees depend on their check every other week so I'm not willing to take any chances for their sake.
