Hello - I have QB 2022 from Canada on my laptop. In Februrary I was locked out and all I use it for is the data and transport to excel. I need my old company records, how do I get in to get my files? If it is a one time fee, fine, but I need my information and have no idea how I was locked out of my own device.

You can try resetting your password to regain access to your files. However, these steps may not work because your version of QuickBooks is no longer supported.

If you sign in with a standard username and know the admin password, follow these steps:

  1. Open QuickBooks and sign in as the Admin user.
  2. Go to Company > Set Up Users and Passwords > Set Up Users.
  3. Enter the Admin password again.
  4. In the User List, select the user whose password needs changing, then click Edit User.
  5. Enter a new password, choose a challenge question, and provide an answer.
  6. Select Next, then click Finish.

If you are the Admin user and need to reset your own password, follow these steps:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. From the login window, select I forgot my password.
  3. Complete the recovery form. You will be prompted to download the automated password reset tool.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to finalize your new password.

If your recovery details aren't recognized, log in to your One Intuit Account Manager (OIAM) to verify your credentials. If OIAM info is correct but the reset still fails, use the Recover your Intuit Account option.

You can use the trial version of QB Desktop 2022 to access your historical data for good.
