Question

Do attachments save in the back-up?

I’m using a desktop version of Quickbooks, Desktop Pro 2018. When attachments are added to bills, journals, etc, do they save when a back-up needs to be restored? Is there anything I need to do so ensure they are always saved and not lost? When you transfer QB from one computer to another, do the attachments stay with the data?

Thank you.

QuickBooks Desktop backups do not include your attached documents. You will need to manually back up the attachments folder, which is located in the same directory as your company file.

To ensure your attachments are not lost when you restore a backup, simply copy that “Attach” folder and paste it into the same local directory as your restored company file.

Similarly, when transferring QuickBooks from one computer to another, these attachments do not automatically stay with the data. You must manually copy the “Attach” folder and move it to the new computer alongside your company file.
