Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community, cfreshwa. I'll be providing details on why you've been prompted to set up tasks like tax info on the Homepage. Then, to ensure the tasks that keep appearing are removed.

If the tax information that appears on the homepage you're referring to is about payroll, it could be that a new employee has been set up in another state. Also, a new tax item has been recorded incorrectly. To fix this, you will need to run a payroll setup so you can review and ensure that payroll data, including employee information and item, are accurately entered.

However, if the task is about sales tax, you can check your sales tax setup to make sure that the details about the goods and services you offer are entered correctly. You can open this article to see further information and how to perform the process: Set up sales tax in QuickBooks Desktop.

Additionally, I also recommend going to the Update QuickBooks Desktop section and checking the recent update that appears if it is about taxes. If there is, you'll have to click the Update Now button and Get updates. This is to keep your software up-to-date so you always have the latest features/fixes and to avoid asking again about setting up tasks.

Here's how:

1. Go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
2. Choose the Update Now tab.
3. Select Get Updates to start the download.
4. When the download finishes, restart QuickBooks.
5. When prompted, accept the option to install the new release.
