Sync Issues

I got a call claiming to be someone from QuickBooks regarding an issue with my file not syncing properly. She told me the steps to go through to see if there was an issue. Apparently, there is an issue with my file not syncing properly, but she wanted me to give her access to my computer. She called my business, unsolicited, and was a bit perturbed when I refused to give her access to my computer. She said she could understand why I wouldn't trust her, and told me she could give me her credentials and a phone number I could call back to verify. Um, NO.

Is this something that QuickBooks will do? I had to get a support contract with a third party, through Intuit, for a payroll issue I was having and my file being too large. I will call them, since I'm paying them for a service before I let some random person who called me have access to my computer.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

This is the root of the problem. Your number is already on their list to be scammed at any time.

In QuickBooks, if you receive an unsolicited call claiming to be from our contact support, you can consider it a scam. However, our support will call if you have requested a callback.

 

Also, I want to inform you that Inuit won't call you to fix a problem with your subscription or services. It happens when scammers are offering to fix a problem with your computer.

I'm not at that particular job today, I can let you know sync issues when I next work on that file.

My payroll issues happened several months ago, payroll would not send. It was due to the rather large size of my data file. Through Intuit support I was connected with an approved service provider who worked on my data and was able to increase my file size limit. Not sure that's the correct technical term. Because I desperately needed the work to be done, I opted to get a service contract with the provider for a one year term. I will call them to discuss this alleged sync issue.

I have had 2 of the same unsolicited phone calls over the past two weeks.  It appears this is the latest scam targeting QB Desktop users.  I just laughed at the caller and hung up.  I also reported the phone number to QB.  Not sure what else we can do other than report the unsolicited phone calls to QB Support.
