Question

Two step verification

We need to remove the two-step authentication from the account. The text for verification is going to someone we cannot reach now (overseas). However, the sign-on setting says "Turn on", which is confusing because we wish to turn it off.  So I have two questions, if it is already turned off, why are we getting a text to sign in still? And if we change the number, will it ask to send a text to the exisiting number (over seas) first in order to change it?? Which would not be helpful. Thank you!

Welcome to the Community, @cherylm8888.  I’ll help you with your concern about two-steps verification in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Intuit is always concerned about the security of your information. Verification codes are one way to achieve this. You can go to our security webpage here: Intuit Security Center.

Moreover, you can check out this article for a detailed step-by-step guide on how you can turn off your two-step verification in QuickBooks Online: Verify your QuickBooks Online account with multi-factor authentication or two-step verification.

You've already disabled this feature on your end, as you said before. I also recommend that you go through certain browser troubleshooting steps, as this issue could be browser-related. While using the application, the cached cache may trigger unexpected behavior. We can do some basic troubleshooting procedures to assist you in resolving this issue.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts to open a private browser:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift +N

If it works, kindly proceed with clearing your cache. This helps improve the performance of the application.

If the issue persists, you can refer to this article for other supported browsers while using QBO.

For future reference, you may find this resource helpful: Add, delete, or change user access.

If you require any additional assistance with your QuickBooks settings, please let me know. The community is always there for you. Have a wonderful day!

Two-step verification is a process that involves two authentication methods performed one after the other to verify that someone or something requesting access is who or what they are declared to be.
Try this :
Set up two-step verification
  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Select the Intuit Account icon at the top right, then Manage your Intuit Account.
  3. Select Sign in & security.
  4. In the Two-step verification section, select Turn on.
  5. Choose how you would like to be contacted, Text message or Voice call.
  6. Select Turn on.
