Hello:)  I am ready to upgrade our QB to Desktop accountants 2020.  Can this be done while the accountants copy is still out or do I need to wait until I get it back?

Hi @juliac2,

You can download and install your new QuickBooks and then open the accountants' copy when you already have it.

Please use this link on how to download the program: https://downloads.quickbooks.com/app/qbdt/products.

You can also check our QuickBooks page to know what's new about the software.

I am not sure if I presented my question properly.  For our FYE I have sent the accountant's copy to our accountant.  He is still not finished and returned our copy for me to finalize our year end.  With that out I am unsure if I can upgrade our QB to desktop 2020?  Does this make more sense?

Good Morning, @juliac2

Thanks for reaching back out to the Community. Yes, you'll need to wait for your accountant to finish their changes and ensure that all the edits are good before updating. This is just to avoid any data damage that could potentially harm the fine. However, you can go ahead and install 2020, but don't open the file until you've received the accountant's copy. Here's an extra link that can provide you with some additional information about upgrading that can help you in the future:
